Wolverine's story
Advantages: Great special effects and story Disadvantages: none
Fans of the X-Men series of films will love the 2009, Gavin Hood, prequel film, X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
X-Men Origins: Wolverine explores the origins of the X-Men characters, Logan/Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) from his younger days in the nineteenth century when he discovers his regeneration powers along with his brother and fellow mutant, Victor Creed (Liev Schreiber). Wolverine and his brother Victor spend years fighting in wars to satisfy their ... ...of Brian Cox from the X-Men 2 film. There is support from Dominic Monaghan and Ryan Reynolds who play mutants in Team X. The special effects are brilliant and there are some great action and fight scenes. There is a cameo at the end of the film which will delight most X-Men fans. This is one to watch. ...

Highway to the pilotless danger zone
Advantages: Enjoyable Disadvantages: Nothing special
...a completely automatic and independent stealth plane, virtually capable of thinking for itself. Requiring no pilot, the plane, EDI (pronounced like Eddie), joins them, but it isn't too long before ulterior motives and some highly dangerous and precarious situations reveal that there is more to the military project that initially meets the eye.
Okay, so the plot doesn't seem particularly complicated, and this is the case throughout. There are a few ... ...but even so, it's an hour and a half of fun, and I recommend giving it a go.....without a critical mind! Stealth is available from amazon.co.uk and other variou online and in the street stores and shops - prices vary but expect to pay no more than about a fiver! ...

'You're not dead until I TELL you you're dead!'
Advantages: Curiously enjoyable Disadvantages: Some dodgy acting and editing, too long
...mood dropping after looking through the films on offer, I was perked by the first one I watched: Hitchcock's Speelbound, dealing with the human psyche. This was the second. I had heard of The Wild Geese before, but had never really bothered to find out much about it. As it was a free DVD from the paper, there are no extras on it at all. In fact, all you get is the film, and putting the disc in the DVD player, the film started immediately without ... ...sequence of Joan Armatrading singing the title theme tune as the outline of Africa appears on an otherwise black screen. For some reason, it set me in the mood and I was looking forward to watching the film. We get our first glimpse of Richard Burton early on, as we see him approached at a train station covertly by a British government operative. The scene is set in London, and it is made very clear from the start that Burton's character, Colonel ...

The Prisoner - a seminal piece of science fiction drama
Advantages: Great premise, characters and stories Disadvantages: Does look a little dated, may be considered 'too weird' for some
...possibly a spy, who in the famous opening credits, resigns from his highly secret role with the intention of leaving the country. Kidnapped by un-named sources, he awakes in a strange picturesque village where everyone is pleasant, but from which there is no escape. Introduced to the shady village chairman 'Number Two', The Prisoner realises nobody has names, only numbers, money has been replaced by credit units, the taxis only operate a 'local service' ... ...resigned.
It is not only the forces that want to find this information out - over the course of the seventeen episodes here, the viewer becomes just as engrossed! The series opener, 'Arrival' sets up the ethos of the series excellently, and provides the backing for McGoohan's vision of Portmeirion as an eerily pleasant 'home away from home', and a location where nothing is as it seems. Although to the casual viewer this series may appear dated, ...

Avoid!!!!
Advantages: Visually stunning and the women are amazing! Disadvantages: Acting, story, pretty much the whole thing
When I saw the trailer for The Spirit I couldn't wait to see it especially as I had enjoyed Sin City so much.As with Sin City visually this is stunning (as are the ladies of the film!) but that's were the positives end!!! Never have I watched a film and cared so little for the main character to the point that I wanted him to be killed by Samuel L Jackson's Octopuss (who is a thoroughly unlikeable character and seriously over acted by Jackson) I got ...
