The man in the iron mask

Advantages: Great remake of a good story
Disadvantages: A little cheesey in places

The man in the iron mask is a old story about King louie who rules the country unfairly and treats his citizens very badly, the muskateers who are sworn to protect louie and france see that he is a evil king and come up with a plan to overthrow him, there is a legend of a man placed in a iron mask who looks exactly like king louie so the muskateers set of to free the man in the iron mask and replace him with the king. Although there are a few changes ...
...brings in the audience as louie and the man in the iron mask but to be fair the three muskateers give excellent performances and are quite comical as well, the story keeps you watching and is very well told ,with a strong romance running through it as well as the destruction that louie has caused. The story ends well and is told in ull and i found it very enjoyable to watch,i recomend it to everyone that enjoys a drama/action movie ...

Hell Drivers

Advantages: An action-packed film full of tension
Disadvantages: 'Speeded-up' sequences a bit too dated

Shot in black & white, this is truly a 'knife-edged' 1950's film that is full of atmosphere and drama. The fast-paced driving scenes are excellent and well filmed for the era in which it was made, although they do look slightly dated now when compared with modern film effects. Tom Yateley, (Stanley Baker; the main character in the film), fresh out prison, arrives at Hawlett's, a ballast transport company, looking for work. The nature of the work ...
...the job done and earn your money - whatever it takes! He takes a hair-raising trial run, set by the owner of the company played by William Hartnell. Tom passes his initiation, after a couple of 'near misses' and gets the job - and this where his troubles begin! William Hartnell's acting is typical William Hartnell - outspoken, straight to the point. Stanley Baker acts extremely well throughout the film and handles the dialogue with ease, making ...

The Cold War on Ice

Advantages: Enjoyable action, good cast, some amusing lines.
Disadvantages: Never really surprises, some poor sets and effects.

...rescue of the scientist of Ice Station Zebra. The rescue mission is, however, merely an excuse to go as Ferraday and his crew are joined by the mysterious David Jones (Patrick McGoohan, SILVER STREAK, SCANNERS), Russian Borris Vaslov (Ernest Borgnine, THE BLACK HOLE, GATTACA) and Captain Leslie Anders (Jim Brown, THE DIRTY DOZEN, 100 RIFLES) with his team of marines. It soon becomes apparent that the real reason to get to the Pole is to recover film ...
...the book by Alistair MacLean, Ice Station Zebra is a by the numbers Cold War action thriller with few real surprises but it is not a bad film all the same. There is the nearly sinking to the bottom of the ocean scene, which seems almost obligatory in films with submarines and the usual guess who the enemy agent is. The acting is solid enough with some entertaining exchanges between McGoohan and Hudson – Jones (McGoohan): Refreshingly informal, ...

Historians From England Will Call Me A Liar...

Advantages: A stunning and highly emotional true account of history
Disadvantages: None

...it was released in 1995, Braveheart was received by Scottish people as an honourable and magnificent film, but it also created a lot of controversy, as many people accused the film as having too many false facts. For example, William Wallace never even met the Princess of Wales. My argument is that of course there are false facts in Braveheart, as there are false facts in every “factual” film. These are to make the film more … Well, film-like. If ...
...involved. But the story of Braveheart is true. Let’s talk about the plot. Beginning in 1280 AD, the story tells of a dark time in Scottish history. The king of Scotland has died with no heir, and the cruel English king Edward the Longshanks has claimed the throne of Scotland for himself. Scotland’s nobles fought him, and each other in brutal clan wars to try and win the throne. The film begins as Longshanks invites the clans of Scotland to join ...
