Not as brainless as punch drunk as you'd think
Advantages: Inspring action and sharp dialogue in places Disadvantages: Shouldve skipped from IV to VI in my opinion
The Rocky films are surprisingly a sharp set of stories which are not the '80s action movie hero with boxing gloves on' that you'd expect. They have the power to inspire the mind, make you chuckle and pull on the heart strings, unlike any of his action rivals of the time. This is the reason I rate them so highly.
A couple of years before the (probably) final installment of the Rocky series came in, Warner Brothers released a slick box set entitled ... ...rash, doesn't it?
The Rocky Anthology consists of Rockys 1 through 5: from the gritty opener in 1976 which made Stallone his name, to the uneccessary 'V' in 1990. That makes me wonder: is there a single film out there with the roman numeral 'V' ending the title which is any good??? Rocky V is certainly no exception to the rule. However, there is some real gold amongst the 6 disks here. Especially in the early installments before the Rocky franchise ...

I have to stop watching this film
Advantages: excellant special effects, story lines and actors/actresses Disadvantages: I cant stop watching it and I still cry at the end hehe
Backdraft is a 1991 American action-drama film directed by Ron Howard and written by Gregory Widen. The film stars Kurt Russell, William Baldwin, Robert De Niro and Scott Glenn. Donald Sutherland, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Rebecca De Mornay, Jason Gedrick and J.T. Walsh co-star in the film. I dont think theres one bad actor/actress in this film and although this film has been out for a number of years I'm not ashamed to admit I have watched it probably ... ...bugged my boyfriend to watch it as he was reluctant as he said it wont be as good as ladder 49 but I felt this was still much better. Even he admitted it was better than ladder 49. I also am slightly biased as I do have a bit of a crush on william baldwin but the story line (The story is about firefighters in Chicago on the trail of a serial arsonist who sets fires with a fictional chemical substance, trychtichlorate). and stunning pyrotechnics will ...

Pity that fool!
Advantages: Eye of the Tiger! Adrenaline fuelled fight scenes. Mr T Disadvantages: Slightly over the top. Doesn't stick to the spirit of the original.
With the success of Rocky II, the series was now in full swing, and 1982 saw the release of Rocky III. It's been three years since Rocky became the heavyweight champion, and all is well. He's had a string of successful title defences, bought a huge mansion, and parlayed his boxing fame into advertising and merchandise. The world is in love with Rocky. But there's trouble a-brewing. Clubber Lang (played by none other than Mr T), a brutal new fighter, ... ...contender for the title. When Rocky announces his intention to retire, Lang insults him and calls him out. Never one to back down, Rocky agrees to fight him against Mickey's protests.
But this isn't the same Rocky who beat Apollo Creed three years ago. When the fight rolls around, Rocky is overconfident and complacent, while Lang is hungry and motivated. Worse, an altercation before the fight leaves Mickey gravely ill. As a result, Rocky is easily ...

The weak link in the series
Advantages: Burgess Meredith Disadvantages: Depressing. A downbeat ending to the series
...and in this case it's Rocky V. Picking up immediately after the big fight at the end of the previous movie, Rocky is in the midst of celebrating his victory over Ivan Drago. But wait, all is not well. His hands start shaking uncontrollably, and he becomes confused and disoriented, apparently confusing Adrian with his dead manager Mickey. Returning to the States, things only get worse when Rocky finds out his double-dealing attorney has invested his ... ...toll. With no other option, Rocky and his family are forced to move back to their old neighbourhood in Philadelphia. Everything in Rocky's life is going backwards. He reopens Mickey's gym, moves into his old house, and even starts wearing his old clothes. His boxing days seem to be behind him, until one day he's approached by flamboyant boxing promoter George Washington Duke (clearly a parody of Don King) who wants to get him back in the ring despite ...

Daylight
Advantages: great action packed dramatic movie...in a tunnel Disadvantages: none really
...survive long enough to see daylight again.
The opening scenes, with the police chase and the lorry loads of toxic chemicals, the movie gets straight to the point, with the simplicity of how certain events can cause so much disaster. Stallone plays his usual style as the action hero with attitude and a skill of surviving what would normally kill any mere mortal, it is like Rambo in a tunnel.
It is the type of movie which sees a group of strangers ... ...reach there goal, watching how the rich, the poor, the young and the old join forces and become one, watching as the group deal with one life threatening problem only to stumble across another.
The story line was well written, if a little slow in parts as the audience is introduced briefly to the tunnel dwelling characters. Stallone plays his usual style as the action hero with attitude and a skill of surviving what would normally kill any mere ...
