God this is rubbish!
Advantages: None Disadvantages: Awful adaptation of a classic Alan Moore Comic book
I will begin the review with brutal honesty, if this film were a bird it would be a massively expensive wrapped turkey, if it were a football team it would be Newcastle United (no offence to Toon fans) and if it were a comic book it would be a million times better than this....oh it was!! The League of Extraordinary Gentleman is based on Alan Moore's brilliantly imaginative graphic novel of the same name, the premise of the film should lend itself ... ...an alternate universe, the Fantom is trying to start a World War by manipulating World powers into believing others are plotting and acting against them causing an air of fear and oppression, led by the heroic Alan Quatermain a team of literary hero's of the era must stop the Fantom and save the world, putting aside their own rivalries and idiocyncracies in the process. The film follows Alan Quatermain, Captain Nemo, Mina Harker, The Invisible Man, ...

One hell of a culture shock
Advantages: Great visuals with stunning scenery, great actors, a great film Disadvantages: Story is a bit far fetched (but then that is Hollywoods way)

****Story line****

No Moore please, this one bored the Living Daylights Out of Me!
Advantages: Erm................good theme tune Disadvantages: Weak acting, story was far fetched at time, bad effects and fight scenes
Well it seems quite strange to say that hubby chose this film as it does not star John Wayne but I have to say I think I would have perhaps preferred him to this drivel I had to endure. Roger Moore takes on the role of 007, James Bond in this film. He is set to uncover the mysterious deaths of 005 and 006 and soon he finds he is tracking a drug lord. He stars off in New York where he is chased and threaten but during this he meets Solitaire, a tarot ... ...things which are about to happen, who he instantly find attractive. Bond soon finds his investigations lead him to Louisiana’s Bayou Country where he uncovers some very powerful men and again he meets Solitaire and vows to help her escape from the Drug Lord. Will Bond be able to save himself from the drug Lord and his men and will he be able to help Solitaire?
Now I know the plot summery which I have been given sound very brief but taking away Bond ...

the last samurai
Advantages: epic Disadvantages: cliched movie
...little room for surprises among the inevitable clichéd trappings of The Last Samurai, an epic cinematic scenario about a battle-worn war hero who has lost his soul but finds redemption in an ancient Japanese society he once perceived as the enemy.
Story A decorated soldier, Capt. Nathan Algren (Tom Cruise) fought bravely during the Civil War, but in the years thereafter, pragmatism and self-interest embittered him. He now drinks heavily to drown ... ...proud Native Americans in the name of progress during the Indian Wars of the 1870s. As a mercenary for hire, Algren heads to Japan to train the newly formed Imperial Army and usher it into the burgeoning age of modern Western culture--a shift that will put Japan's ancient customs and values in jeopardy, including the tradition of the fierce and highly respected samurai warriors who once protected Japan with their fabled swords and still live by a ...
