True Masterpiece
Review of Hana-Bi DVD by sghosh

Advantages: Possibly best ever Kitano movie
Disadvantages: None whatsoever

Films previous to this made by Kitano included Violent Cop, Sonatine, and Boiling Point, and if you've seen those 3, you'll notice the difference here. This film was made after his motorcycle accident which left him with a facial twitch which is evident, but one can see the change in style brought about as a result of it. Takeshi's character, Nishi, is a cop whose wife is terminally ill, and whose daughter died earlier. As he tries to deal with his ...
...partner gets shot and as a result is crippled. Nishi blames himself for this, as he was visiting his wife in hospital at the time that his partner got shot. The full story unfolds in short flashback sequences, and Nishi feels snowballing guilt. To add to his problems, he owes the Yakuza a lot in debt, and has to go about repaying it. The story is mainly about how Nishi decides to spend time with his wife who hasn't got long left to live, as he contemplates ... Read review

Battle Royale - Amazing
Review of Battle Royale DVD by alexp2007

Advantages: Interesting antertaining from start to end
Disadvantages: may be too violent for some (but still worth it)

This DVD is worth it as it is an amazing film for a few reasons. 1. it shows how insane some governments can be, going so far as to force students to kill each other in fear of them rebelling. 2. It is surprisingly funny to watch people reluctantly kill each other (i dont know why, but it just is). 3. it is interesting (and slightly disturbing) to find out how many different ways there are to kill someone. Kinji Fukasaku has created a masterpiece ... Read review

Definitely...the next best thing
Review of Naruto Unleashed - Series 1 Vol.2 DVD by Ritatsu

Advantages: Cast, action, sound, quality...almost everything
Disadvantages: Filler episodes

Naruto is the next best thing in Japanese Animation, and you could almost call it the next Dragon Ball Z, although I personally think it's a hell load of miles ahead of anything that has ever been released to the Western World and it also appeals to any sort of audience whether Male or Female, young or old to some extent and anyone who is willing to give Japanese Animation (Anime) a go, which people must understand, it is not a mere Cartoon as many ...

Out of the Shadows
Review of Kagemusha (Wide Screen) by matsu65

Advantages: It's just superb
Disadvantages: I'm not allowed to watch it every day

...enjoy. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Kagemusha the Shadow Warrior was released in 1980 to universal critical acclaim, winning the Golden Palm at the Cannes Film Festival, and was nominated for 2 Academy Awards the same year. Kurasawa couldn't get sufficient funding in Japan for this movie, so turned to the US where George Lucas and Francis Ford Coppola acted as co-executive producers, giving ...
...not wipe them out. The kagemusha is presented to the generals of the clan as the way of keeping the Lords death a secret. From then on it becomes a story of the change from illusion into reality, the kagemusha haunted by dream visits from Shingen as he gradually transforms into the Lord. The only storm on the horizon comes in the form of Shingens' son who believes he should inherit the title and responsibilities of his father. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ... Die Hard- 10/10
Review of Die Hard DVD by chris15243

Advantages: Anybody can enjoy it.
Disadvantages: None

...going to be appearing in Die Hard i thought, brilliant. Bruce Willis is an amazing actor. The performance he gave was spectacular. He is one f the greatest actors in my opinion, when it comes to action films. The plot was very well thought out. I loved the film and the next 3 films that were produced after, were phenomenal. Also Alan Rickman playing a bad guy was a match made in heaven. His voice was perfect when he was giving Bruce an ultimatum. ... Read review
