Who said romance was dead?
Review of True Romance (Director's Cut) (DVD) by Boothegoose

Advantages: Original, fast paced, a multitude of stars
Disadvantages: Too violent, swearing

True Romance is a fantastic film which boasts an all-star cast including the likes of Christopher Walken, Christian Slater, Dennis Hopper, Gary Oldman amongst others and the film is filled with such colourful characters and indeed dialogue which provides a somewhat memorable movie. The plot is that Chrisitan Slater is an affable and well-meaning comic book clerk who goes out on a date with a hooker, played by Patricia Arquette, and they both fall ...
...chemistry between the two stars in the film, and they set out on a wild road trip after Slater kills Drexyl, Arquette's former pimp and coming into possession of some narcotics owned by the Mob. Oldman hams it superbly as the somewhat larger than life and colourful pimp and rarely has there been such a character in a film who is so obnoxious, so unbelievably vile with no redeeming characteristics whatsoever that we cannot help but cheer when he meets ... Not Exactly Valentine's Day
Review of True Romance (Director's Cut) (Special Edition) (DVD) by BZ2886

Advantages: A-list ensemble cast, tarantino script, great action scenes
Disadvantages: Occassionally over-graphic

This film from 1993, directed by Tony Scott (previous works such as 'Top Gun' and Crimson Tide') and written by the universally known Quentin Tarantino. It is a tension filled and action packed movie with some really poignant and occasionally chilling sequences. The story centres around Clarence Worley (Christian Slater of 'Murder in the First' and 'Broken Arrow') a comic book store employee with a passion for Sonny Cheeba kung-fu movies and Elvis ...
...marathon in a cinema. Here he meets Alabama (Patricia Arquette of Stigmata.) She is a happy, young southern girl and they immediately hit it off. After the inevitable night-time events, Clarence awakes to find Alabama crying and she confesses she is a call girl hired by Clarence's boss as a birthday present. As she's crying obviously, the two already mean more than that to each other and are married the next morning. This is only the first five minutes ... Read review

You need to buy this boxset.
Review of Pulp Fiction - Special Edition / Jackie Brown - Special Edition / Reservoir Dogs - Special Edition (Tarantino Collection) (DVD) by slade1975

Advantages: Too many to mention.
Disadvantages: Pity there isn't more.

...one boxset. Let's start with Pulp Fiction, what can I say that hasn't been said already. This movie is a must see for all Tarantino fans. It starts with lightning pace and just keeps on going. The plot is intricately woven giving the audience dashes of dark humour, explosive action and senceless violence. The characters are colourful and exciting and it's the best sountrack to a movie I have heard in a long time. This is a must see movie. Jackie ...
...here, but it is still enjoyable to watch, it follows an airhostess who is caught in the middle of a war between two-bit criminals and the police. It has a soul soundtrack that oozes funk and with clever dialogue and a tight woven plot its an enjoyable film to watch. Now on to Reservoir Dogs, this has got to be my favourite of the bunch. The basic plot follows a gang of thieves that are known to each other only as colours. The plot grabs you by the ... Read review

True Brilliance
Review of True Romance (DVD) by Phelthew

Advantages: Lots of great actors. Great story
Disadvantages: Oldman's part. QT version would have been better

...to remember. Yes, well in True Romance we have quite a large cast of well known actors and if you watch it with my family the Yer manning is beyond excessive. Anyway True Romance is a 1993 film written by Quentin Tarantino and directed by Tony Scott (the lesser of the Scott brothers). It tells the story of Clarence Worley (played by Christian Slater and I know he's an idiot just bear with me). Clarence is a pretty ordinary man though a bit of a loner. ...
...so apparent that the screenplay is by Tarantino from the dialogue. Clarence is talking to a girl in a bar about how he thinks Elvis is prettier than most women and if he had to do a man it would be Elvis. He then goes to the cinema to watch three Kung Fu movies as is his birthday tradition when he meets the beautiful Alabama (Patricia Arquette). They hit it off and he takes out and takes her home. However, when ever Clarence finds Alabama crying ... Read review

Good Value for money
Review of Tarantino - Reservoir Dogs / Pulp Fiction / Jackie Brown (Box Set) (DVD) by peteyl

Advantages: 3 Brilliant films all within one box
Disadvantages: Not suitable for younger viewers

The box set is a set of Quinten Tarantino's three best films. The main context of the three films is drugs crime and violence and each film comes with its own superb storyline. Reservoir Dogs is based around a jewelry heist and shows the attitudes each member of the groups has. Every charecter has their own specific part to play so the viewer can see the situation from every angle. The storyline becomes more intense when they realise there is a ...
...loved the film although i had to watch it a second time to grasp the whole storyline. Jackie Brown starts by introducing an airport flight atendant who is caught smuggling in money from arms for her boss. The police decide to use her to try to catch the arms dealer. However the arms dealer, Ordell, has no hesitation to kill you if he suspects your talking about him so Jackie is caught between the two. She meets her bail bondsman and between them ... Read review
