...been well updated from the original although some fans of the older version may not warm to the new one. This film lasts a good while (106 mins) with some very good action scenes and stunts, particularly car stunts, throughout. A particularly good scene is where they track down the gold in one of several trucks. They then somehow get the truck underground and steal the gold for themselves taking it away in minis! All characters play good parts, with ... Read review

The Negotiator Strikes a Bargain!
Review of The Negotiator (Wide Screen) by Halks

Advantages: Polished, Thrilling, Unpredictable
Disadvantages: Long film

This a thrilling story following the events surrounding an ex-cop turned negotiator who finds himself embroiled in an embezzlement scandal within his own department. After inadvertently stumbling onto the nefarious scheme, Danny Roman, brilliantly played by Samuel L. Jackson, is framed and suspended following the murder of a colleague and soon finds himself in a race against time to find the truth. The plot begins setting the scene with Danny Roman, ...
...and taking all the risks we expect the Hollywood hero to take. We meet his colleagues, his friends and his wife before finally being introduced by a close friend to the evident corruption of his department when he is the last avenue for a man not knowing who to trust. King Kong, THE NEW DVD
Review of King Kong DVD by CFC4EVER

Advantages: Fantastic action scenes and special effects
Disadvantages: Some missing bits

...are lots of scenes in King Kong that can be funny and hilarious (seeing King Kong, the giant ape, jumping through the sky, demolishing everything in its way,) but at the same time it also achieves terrible horror, seeing King Kong destroying and rampaging through towns and streets, destroying everything and anything. It never gets boring—Kong’s dramatic style and episodes makes every part of the film intriguing and exciting. Kong is a huge giant ...
...path. He is very tall, wide and looks menacing. He wipes the tops off houses and brings aeroplanes down to the ground in anger. He is a man-eating beast, making the movie what it is. The sound and graphics are great, making a sense of mystery, shock and terror. In the limited edition DVD, it comes with a bonus DVD with the “extra parts.” On this second DVD are personal stories of the actors, pre-production, extra and special scenes as well as special ... A Heart-stopping experience-literally
Review of Apocalypto DVD by gijoe1974

Advantages: brilliant cinematography, thrilling story, intense
Disadvantages: almost gave me a heart attack!

...a few people have labelled Apocalypto a racist movie. I'm sorry but I don't see it. What it shows is a powerful people conquering and oppressing weaker people and a man rebelling against it all. It's nothing less than the old tale of David vs. Goliath. And this intense battle is filmed beautifully. This is the kind of film that not many directors have the balls to make anymore. This epic film was truly made for the big screen. The scenery is breathtaking, ...
...spectacular human sacrifice scene that is so brilliant it hurts. I admit I have no idea how the film fared at the box office. But I guess from all the bad press Gibson received not so well. It is unconventional (how many films have you seen in Mayan dialect with subtitles?) and some might say deliriously crazy. For my part, I think it is one of the best films of the noughties. And in case you are wondering, no, I am not Mel Gibson's spokesperson. ... Read review

Historians From England Will Call Me A Liar...
Review of Braveheart (Special Edition) by Arbobug

Advantages: A stunning and highly emotional true account of history
Disadvantages: None

...it was released in 1995, Braveheart was received by Scottish people as an honourable and magnificent film, but it also created a lot of controversy, as many people accused the film as having too many false facts. For example, William Wallace never even met the Princess of Wales. My argument is that of course there are false facts in Braveheart, as there are false facts in every “factual” film. These are to make the film more … Well, film-like. If ...
...involved. But the story of Braveheart is true. Let’s talk about the plot. Beginning in 1280 AD, the story tells of a dark time in Scottish history. The king of Scotland has died with no heir, and the cruel English king Edward the Longshanks has claimed the throne of Scotland for himself. Scotland’s nobles fought him, and each other in brutal clan wars to try and win the throne. The film begins as Longshanks invites the clans of Scotland to join ... Read review
