...been well updated from the original although some fans of the older version may not warm to the new one. This film lasts a good while (106 mins) with some very good action scenes and stunts, particularly car stunts, throughout. A particularly good scene is where they track down the gold in one of several trucks. They then somehow get the truck underground and steal the gold for themselves taking it away in minis! All characters play good parts, with ... Read review

The Italian Jobs Box Set
Review of Italian Job, The / The Italian Job (Box Set) by ciaowales

Advantages: Great box set of a legendary film and a good remake
Disadvantages: Could have makde more of original version

...cover the plots as the Italian Job is a legend but suffice to say it involves stealing large amounts of gold using minis as the getaway cars. Noel Cowards Bridger is replaced by Donald Sutherland and Charlie Croker is now Mark Wahlberg and not Michael Caine. Women in flims has changed alot since the orignial so Charlize Theron as Crokers daughter was a good addition. The DVD extras on how the new film pays homage to the old is great and shows alot ...
...is the newer slick hollywood version rather than the british 70's budget film there are somethings that the new version cannot trump. The original mini chase is still the best and how can you replace Benny Hill with an MIT nerd! The difference between US and UK humour is obvious. Definately a must for all members of the Self Preservation Society and a valuable addition to any DVD UK classic flim collector or Michael Caine fan. ... Read review
