You'll believe they'll remake it in 20 years
Advantages: Gene Hackman, brilliant Disadvantages: Really shows its age
The start of this and Superman 2 don't tally, Jor-el has nothing to do with Zod's sentence. He is obviously their advocate in court, the Elders pass judgment. Jor-el says nothing, neither condemning Zod or supporting him. There are at least 6 Elders who all say guilty. Even if Jor-el voted, Zod, Ursa & Non would be guilty by majority. Anyway the 3 criminals should be grateful to Kal-el, he saved them from the destruction of Krypton. Launching Kal-el ... ...foot above the ground. Superman has no jurisdiction to arrest the burglar apart from a citizens arrest, the policeman has no proof the burglar stole the jewels Superman shows him. The boat would just fall over in the street, it wouldn't stand freely like that. Those idiots flying Airforce One make several mistakes. They wouldn't crash with the loss of one engine and tiny bit of wing. They wouldn't have to notify civilian ground control ANYTHING! ...

Reeve is the ONLY Superman
Advantages: exhaustive bonus material / New versions of 1 & 2. Disadvantages: Superman IV should be thrown onto a fire
...reasons to get this: Superman the Movie (with the extra footage never before seen) and Superman II (the Richard Donner Cut).
Bonus Disc:
If you had a taste for watching a bit of Superman one afternoon, you won't by the end of this: It's cram-packed with all kinds of documentaries, early versions of Superman the B&W TV series (which really looks pre-historic now), and some cartoons. Enough to keep you busy all afternoon and actually be bored of ... ...Movie:
The never before seen footage makes you wonder why they cut it from the original, as there are some clever special effects showing that Superman is extreme temperature resistant. Perhaps the running time was an issue, however, for one who's seen Superman a thousand times, the extra footage will not dissapoint.
Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut:
This is where over half the film has been remade with recently found footage that was thought ...

Iron Eagle gets shot down without a fight...
Advantages: Um... the soundtrack's not bad... Disadvantages: ... where do I start?!?!
...cheese than a city-sized pizza. Iron Eagle, on the other hand, has enough cheese to top a pizza the size of Jupiter even if that pizza had extra cheese and cheese-stuffed crusts. Top Gun is, by comparison, almost a vegan option. That's right, a film that makes one of the cheesiest films of the cheesiest decade in history (the eighties, as if you need telling) look remarkably straight-laced. Iron Eagle could induce lactose intolerance in a creature ... ...most of the sequences in Iron Eagle. Some weren't too bad, but these were usually the ones where nothing actually happened, you just see the plane flying along. Every time an unnamed Middle Eastern country's plane was shot down, you see the guns blaze or missile launch, then immediately it cuts to an explosion as the enemy or target explodes. You never see the missile actually travel between its origin and target, it's all a bit reminiscent of the ...

A weak Superman story
Advantages: None Disadvantages: Poor story
Superman IV: The Quest for Peace is the fourth in the Superman franchise. It was released in 1987 and directed by Sidney J Furie. This film sees Superman (Christopher Reeve) having to battle Lex Luthor (Gene Hackman) once more and stop his evil plans. However this time, Luthor has used a strand of Superman’s hair to create a being called Nuclear Man (Mark Pillow) that can rival the Man of Steel with super powers. Luthor plans to kill Superman which ... ...An almighty battle ensues between Superman and Nuclear man, as the world watches.
This is a poor addition to the Superman franchise and it is a bit embarrassing at times. The story on paper may have looked good, but the finished product is horrendous. Christopher Reeve probably gives the best performance out of the whole cast, but I think most of them will be ashamed of the finished film. The script is weak and has virtually no redeeming value. ...

The greatest turkey in the skies
Advantages: Comically bad? Disadvantages: I havn't got time to list
Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear. Whatever made Louis Gossett Jr, a decent actor, star in a movie that is appallingness personified? The first film was bad, this is beyond belief. The acting is very wooden, the plot is so thin its hardly there and, well, its just naff!
This is the 'story'.
A pilots pal is shot down by a Russian 'MiG 29' and he is destraught by it. He then goes to a special base to prepare for a special mission, which involves a joint ... ...surprise, one of the Russians he will have to cooperate with is the same one who shot down his mate. You couldn't script it! Whats more, he falls in love with a Russian woman pilot! This gets better and better.
So now its about three wasted quarters of an hour watching the lot of them train for their mission. Its like a carbon copy of Topgun except that Topgun was a great film, this script wouldn't make great toilet paper. Then, we're treated to ...
