Tommy Lee Jones, not an action hero. Ok?
Advantages: Action Disadvantages: Too muhc like rambo & the fugitive
...this higher but I got the feeling that the start of this film was cut to ribbons or the script got a radical quick rewrite. This starts out as a former special forces man who's haunted by his nightmares played by Benicio Del Toro (BDT. We're never told which special forces either). Tommy Lee Jones (TLJ) plays LT who has trained this man, I don't understand why he wasn't in uniform as a military trainer. We are also never told if LT is his rank (Lieutenant ... ...easily used to push against the back of his own knee, freeing himself. Not much of a Special Forces Trainer if he didn't spot that one. Our man on the run has won medals for bravery & valour, we see him getting a Silver Star (American Military, Why is a Silver Star Bronze?). We later find out he's an unperson, He doesn't exist as he does Black Bag Ops for the Government. He's an assassin and they aren't happy that he's gone rogue either. When BDT ...

Popeyes back in town
Advantages: Grime, grime, grime Disadvantages: The fashions
...of 'gritty police drams', The French Connection stands head and shoulders above rest. The tale of a New York drug cop smashing an international drug ring was one of the first to address the issue and was one of the first to cast aside Hollywood glitz and glamour in favour of dirt and realism. The underbelly of 70's America is on show here and there's so much dirt, grime, and the dregs of society that you may feel the need to shower afterwards (or ... ...to have the best car chase ever but I prefer this one (and the car chase in The Seven Ups was even better). The scenes of Hackman playing cat and mouse with the French assasin are almost exhausting to watch.
A great film and far better than it's sequel ...

Fairytale Of New York
Advantages: Great acting, a clever and exciting plot and one of the greatest car chase scenes in cinematic history Disadvantages: None
The French connection is one of those films which somehow looks and feels like no other film, every single scene is special and is so classy that you'd forgive yourself for breaking open a bottle of fine red wine to drink while watching it. I first saw the majority of the film on tv a few years ago and just had to buy it when I saw it reduced in the shops it now stands as one of my favourite films. Let me start with a brief introduction to the director ... ...Like the exorcist, the French connection has been directed in a perversely similar way, the use of a large city in America in the middle of winter may have been an accident but it certainly made the French connection that bit more special. The film isn't expensive one at all, instead of huge sets, props, explosions and gunfights every minute Friedkin relies heavily on exceptional acting which may solely be responsible for the films success. The French ...

Is this The Fugitive? Well, close, but not quite................
Advantages: Two leads, the intensity Disadvantages: There isn't really anything else, unoriginal
The Hunted is a 2003 film featuring Tommy Lee Jones and Benicio Del Toro is a high speed film about tracking and black ops. It kind of slipped under the radar somewhat, and hasn't really had the best reception, as it does rather follow Jones' previous roles to a certain extent, with elements of The Fugitive making it a bit repetitive and unoriginal.
Jones plays ex-forces trainer L T Bonham, who is drafted in to track down a vicious killer, one of ... ...ops status. The film essentially follows Bonham as he tracks down his former pupil, Aaron Hallam (Benicio Del Toro), across the city, using instinct and his finely honed sense of tracking. We, as the audience, see the clues that Hallam has inadvertently left, through LT's eyes, but there is just something lacklustre about the film that doesn't completely work.
The two lead actors are very good, particularly with the visuals, although Jones looks ...

Blue Chips
Advantages: Disadvantages:
Blue Chips is a great basketball movie. It features great, realistic basketball action filmed at normal speed using low angles so you can't tell they are acting. Nick Nolte is fantastic as Coach Pete Bell with so many great quotes I couldn't list them all here. Directed by William Friedkin, (The Exorcist) Blue Chips really uses it basketball players well. Athletes are probably the worst actors in the world, but in this movie they do most of their ... ...is told almost exclusively through Nick Nolte's point of view and his inner conflict with breaking the collegiate rules is stressed heavily. Also features memorable performances by J.T. Walsh as Happy, and cameos by countless college basketball players and coaches and a very entertaining cameo by Larry Bird. I strongly recommend you watch this movie, it's the best basketball movie ever! ...
