Places To Go, People To Bore
Review of Seven Seconds DVD by Andy.mack

Advantages: Nothing at All
Disadvantages: Poor direction, acting and dubbing in general it's just awful

It seems when you're an action star on top of your game that inevitably you have to resort to straight to video releases. In the past Van Damme and Seagal have both headed off in that direction and now it seems after the success of the Blade trilogy that Snipes is going down that road too. The quality of his movies in 2005 certainly took a dip and having seen the Marksman from late 2005 I decided to give 7 Seconds a try. Of course having seen the ...
...one either but what was there to lose, I quite like Snipes so settled down to watch it. Snipes stars as a disgraced military commando by the name of Tuliver. Now an experienced thief he plans a heist with a number of ex army colleagues. After pulling off the perfect job they are intercepted during the get away by a rival gang and all of Tuliver's team but him and one other escape. Having escaped the scene with the aid of a Military police officer ... Read review

Second in Command - Worth Seeing
Review of Second In Command (aka Street Justice: The Reckoner) by aandeuk

Advantages: Action, adreneline filled
Disadvantages: Fairly predictable

Firstly, I must start by saying that im not a big fan of Van Damme films. Only one I like (ahem) is street fighter. That being said....... This is an ok film. Granted it's not going to win any awards, but its worth watching. I purchase this film to push my total purchase over the free postage limit on amazon, which is all I would recommend it for. The plot is solid action film. Middle Eastern country and the president is under attack. Van Damme ...
...can arrive. They are surrounded and sieged in the U.S embassy. Fairly predictable but there are enough suprises to keep you interested throughout. Being a low budget film, I was not expecting much in the sound and effects department. Glad to say I was surprised. The sound is well produced and the sound effects and the recording is above average for these films. Acting wise, bearable. But....no-one watches a Van Damme flick for the acting performance. ... Until Death
Review of Until Death DVD by schtook

Advantages: It has Legend Jean-Claude Van Damme in it.
Disadvantages: Not enough action

...and long boring scenes ensue until we hit a bit of action. Then the laughing at how strange a film it is stops. Generally I feel the action scenes are pretty good if sometimes a little slow, Van Damme is getting older so there aren't really any high kicks and split kicks, although he still totally looks the part. Unfortunately the action sections are over all too quickly for what should be an action film, so it's difficult to see whether the intention ... Read review

Right on Target
Review of Ultimate Force - Series 2 (Wide Screen) by MI9to5

Advantages: Great characters
Disadvantages: -

...seeing the first series of Ultimate Force I eagerly awaited the release of Series 2 and I have to say that it didn't fail to deliver. Like the first series, this series is again based around 'red troop' a troop of SAS soldiers. In terms of characters very few changes have been made Alex Leonard who left at the end of the first series is replaced by the cocky and loud-mouthed Louis Hoffman (who is first seen in Series 1 Episode 3) and BOX, whose ...
...Akhurst), who provides a love interest for Red Troop's charismatic Staff Sergeant Henno Garvie (Ross Kemp). This series is more explosive than the last on many levels with more bullets flying and more people falling especially in the opening episode where Red Troop find themselves in a blue on blue situation on a ship docked in Southampton and have to come to terms with the fact that it isn't only those on the other side that are falling. Other ... Read review

Rambo IV - Film Only
Review of Rambo DVD by DavidJay

Advantages: Ridiculously exciting, OTT extravaganza
Disadvantages: Morally disgusting

...his earlier Rocky Balboa. However, Rambo IV is still a ridiculously exciting, if politically disgusting, high-octane, uber-violent romp. Easily the equal of many of the fiercest horror films of recent times in terms of sheer gore and depravity - necks are ripped open, children are flung left and right, heads explode, innards spill to the dirt - the picture is considerably harsher than its predecessors. It is, though, just as moronic as the previous ...
...Religious, Cultural and Military Might. Rambo IV does nothing to reverse this trend, with Stallone being very open about the film's Christian values (a shame-faced attempt to ape Mel Gibson's success with similar audiences) and the piece as a whole stands as a justification for any amount of imperialist rampaging. That said - nauseating and barbaric it may be, but, much like the final third of Mark L. Lester's 1985 Commando, it's impossible not to ... Read review
