Spider, The Trilogy... Light-hearted fun
Advantages: Kid friendly, easy top watch, likable hero Disadvantages: 20 minutes of the third film are BAD. Not very scary.
This series is less dark than many of the other comic book movies. The sort of thing you don't even hesitate to let your kids watch. My 8 year old sister loves these movies. The first film shows the making of spiderman, with the Green Goblin as his main enemy. It follows the comic books pretty closely and Kirsten Dunst is a lovely MJ. Maguire is good as spiderman because he's not got the cool factor, which suits the character. The biggest difference ... ...second film has Dr Octopus as the villain, leading to a lot of nice stunts using those mechanical arms to climb buildings and so forth. The third film has a 20 minute period in the middle with 'evil spider man' that is just wrong, appalling and should be deleted. You need to be cool to pull that off, cool butch and manly, Maguire bless him, isn't. Good otherwise though. I like the villain the most out of the three and the method for killing him was ...

As aforementioned, the Wachowski ... ...wrote, directed and produced the two Matrix sequels as well as producing V For Vendetta & Speed Racer. Keanu Reeves plays the lead in what is arguably his best known role. Reeves is also well known for: Speed, Constantine, Street Kings and The Day The Earth Stood Still. The Dark Knight - A Super-hero movie without a hero
Advantages: Heath Ledger, great special effects, some excellent scenes Disadvantages: Batman
...enough to see yourself become the villain" The release of "The Dark Knight" was greeted with something approximating mass-hysteria by the film-watching public due to the tragic circumstances surrounding the movie. For those who happened to be on another planet at the time, Heath Ledger, who plays arch-villain "The Joker", tragically died of an apparent overdose of prescribed drugs just before release. Ledger automatically gained Kurt Cobain/James ... ...the greatest actor ever to draw breath. Co-stars and fans alike queued up to pay homage. His performance as The Joker was no longer merely acting, it was a "legacy", instantaneously elevating it into the echelons of "best villain ever status". Immediately all the press releases and film trailers focussed on The Joker rather than the supposed star, Batman. Maybe this would have been the case anyway, but the cynical mind may wonder. In short, the Ledger ...

The Matrix Reloaded: Dissapointing
Advantages: Good music, Some interesting new characters Disadvantages: Plot too complex, Emotional detachment from characters, Too much vague philosophy
As a big fan of the original I was greatly looking forward to this, however it didn't live up to the hype. My main issue was the story, I could practically hear the plot straining to be deep and profound but this falls flat on its face. The plot, which is entangled in vague philosophy ("Not how, but why"), is unnecessarily confusing and I eventually found myself wondering, does this plot make sense or is it simply that I just don't care? I actually ... ...add some new interesting characters, the twins spring to mind - however there is very little focus on them in anything other than action sequences. The enigmatic Merovingian I also found very intriguing and they did rightfully focus on him. As a quick sidenote, I didn't give a flying fig about the relationship between Trinity and Neo. I put this down largely to the fact the script didn't flesh out the characters enough as well as their rather cold ...
