Hulk is Ang Lee's version of Marvel Comic's The Incredible Hulk. That fact alone should tell you this is not a faithful rendering of the original. I loved this film from the brooding loveliness, I'm sorry I mean loneliness, of Eric Bana to the howling-at-the-moon insanity of Nick Nolte via the elegant and intelligent direction of Ang Lee. ...measures up to the spirit of the original. But as a stand-alone drama of love, alienation, forgiveness and humanity it is a powerful tale. So long as you can cope with the idiocy of its central character turning green and busting out of his clothes when he gets cross (at least he didn't always keep his trousers on, I did say intelligent direction). Overall, a very powerfull and compelling acount on the vietnam war. Based on a true story, Mel Gibson and his new infantry regiment get thrown into VC territory, massivly out numbered and at a huge disadvantage, the story follows on a powerful nature of war and loss of life, very gory in places, with excellent action sequences throughout most of the film and great sound effects keeping the viewer hooked to the screen.
