Golden, Golden, Golden Bond
Review of James Bond Ultimate Golden Triple Pack - Goldfinger/The Man With The Golden Gun/Goldeneye (Box Set) by
dodgeinator
Advantages: 3 Great Films
Disadvantages: Rather expensive RRP on them in comparsion
Golden, Golden, Golden. Undoubtedly 3 of the best Bonds. First of all theres Goldfinger featuring evil arch villain (you guessed it) Goldfinger, has a strange obsession of murdering people by covering them in solid gold paint. Will Goldfinger succeed in his attempt to rob Fort Knox, surely not, but hey, it's Bond... anything can happen. The Second Golden film, this time, is the Man With the Golden Gun. Here new Bond Roger Moore, takes on new villain ... ...uses a Golden Gun. So when Bond receives a bullet with his name on from him, things start to get a bit heated. Will Scaramanga succeed in assassinating Bond, or will he be made to bite the "bullet". The third Golden Bond is Golden Eye, this sees yet another new Bond, Pierce Brosnan, star in his debut film. Things look bad for Bond when his best friend 006 appears to be assassinated. After a massive electromagnetic pulse, is set off, Bind goes in ...

Die Harder
Review of Die Hard 2 DVD by
Icklerae
Advantages: Even better than the first
Disadvantages: nothing
...on the heals of watching Die Hard I watched Die Hard 2 last night. Oh my goodness it was definatley equal if not better than the first in it's superb plot quality, although far superior in stunts and locations.
McCane (Bruce Willis) is picking his wife up from the airport when he sees some men acting suspiciously. He follows one into the luggage area and manges to kill one of them as they are messing with the luggage.
The local police are not convinced ... ...sure the viewing public are convinced either! However shortly after that a gang of terrorists hijack the runways and the airport technology, meaining no planes could land. As his wife is on one of those planes circling the sky until it gets clearance to lend, McCane bides his time by becoming involved with a daredevil scheme to foil the terrorists plans.
McCane tries to restore control to the tower with the help of the best gunmen but this fails ...

The man with the Midas touch......
Review of Goldfinger (Ultimate Edition) by
pmcds
Advantages: Great film
Disadvantages: Gert Frobe as Goldfinger not up to scratch with the others
...view, I would still rate Goldfinger very highly. The Bond series has a fresh director at the helm and an extremely charismatic Bond leading on the screen. The scenery in the film is beautiful, and the characterisation from Fleming is transferred very well onto the screen by Richard Maibaum, the screenplay writer. Shirley Bassey provides the title track of the film, a song to stick in my mind - beautifully crafted and performed.
If there was anything ... ...Frobe as Goldfinger, as he does seem a little out of his depth in this. He is not very convincing as a villain, so it is just as well he has Oddjob and Pussy Galore, as they are very convincing.
Conclusion
Another good Bond film.
The DVD is available from amazon.co.uk for £4.35.

"To us, Mr Bond, we are the best."
Review of The Man With The Golden Gun (Ultimate Edition) by
arthurpringle
Advantages: A colourful romp
Disadvantages: Lacks a bit of scope
The Man with the Golden Gun was the ninth film in the James Bond franchise and the second outing for actor Roger Moore. It was released in 1974 when the energy crisis was headline news and the United Kingdom still stood a feasible chance of getting a couple of points in the Eurovision Song Contest. The plot of The Man With The Golden Gun involves Francisco Scaramanga, a refined and expensive 'Hitman' with a big reputation. Scaramanga is especially ... ...London a golden bullet with the numbers '007' engraved on it. It's a clear message that he intends to kill James Bond next. Bond had been on the trail of a 'Solex Agitator', a gadget that can harness the power of the sun, but is now ordered to take some leave lest he should be killed by Scaramanga. Bond being Bond though, he decides that he will go and find this Scaramanga character first. Soon, 007 is playing a game of wits with the 'Solex' and ...
