Say hello to my little friend
Advantages: A classic gangster movie with brilliant acting Disadvantages: A little laughable at the old fashioned parts in places
...for only one day - Scarface was shown yesterday and, as neither my husband nor myself have ever seen it and everyone else seems to think it is a brilliant film, we decided to see it with our handy Unlimited Cineworld cards. I'd heard that the film was meant to be very violent and considering it's an 18 certificate I thought it must be. However, I didn't really find it very violent at all to be honest. There was a lot of people being shot and quite ... ...violence. There were moments were I thought something really horrible was going to happen, such as near the beginning where a chainsaw was brought out, but we didn't actually see anything apart from a splattering of blood - not that I particularly wanted to see someone's arm being chopped off with a chainsaw, but I felt that there wasn't really much violence at all. There wasn't too much swearing in it either so I can't really see why it was certified ...

Good idea executed badly
Advantages: Very good acting and great opening sequence Disadvantages: The story loses its way at the end
Snake Eyes starts off with a very good premise which loses its way as the movie progresses. Starring Nicolas Cage and Gary Sinise, the story is about a murder plot involving a number of high ranking government agents, with the murder in question taking place during a boxing match. Set in Atlantic City, all eyes are focused on a boxing contest involving heavyweight champion Lincoln Taylor. Watching the match in the audience are the head of security ... ...(Cage). The film kicks off when, during the boxing match, the Secretary of Defence is shot in the throat. It is up to Santaro and Dunne to investigate who is involved in the conspiracy. The complexity and intricacy of the murder makes the film very watchable and engaging, with Cage giving a very good performance as the out of control Santaro, who, among other things, takes bribes and cheats on his wife. The twenty minute opening sequence is the highlight ...

Your Mission, Should You Accept It - Is To Read This Review!
Advantages: Fast pacy spy adventure, with great music and some equally great stunts. Disadvantages: Stunts a bit far fetched - but you expect that with this sort of film.
Mission Impossible (1996) We just felt in the mood for an older movie, but an excellent film all the same to watch as a family, as pickings are a bit slim at the moment. My children picked it for us to watch as a family. What's it all about? Of course the film is based upon the same set up used in the television series of the same name. Having said this, I have not watched any of the original series as this was before my time. The film ... ...given the task of going to Prague to stop a top secret list of agents, passing into the hands of traitors. The group are told to walk away if the mission fails and that their bosses will not admit to knowing them if they are captured. The mission does go awry and it seems that all of the agents are killed, all except for Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise). Ethan makes arrangements to meet his superiors in a restaurant and it is here that Ethan realises that ...

Mission: Impossible (Box Set)
Advantages: Classy fast paced action adventures starring Tom Cruise at his best Disadvantages: None
...a devotee of the original Mission: Impossible television series I was looking forward to seeing these films. In their time the television series was very cutting edge in its story lines and effects.
Mission: Impossible 1 opens with the hero Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) leading his team of operatives on a mission which goes horribly wrong. His team is wiped out ( with the exception of 1) and he is blamed by his spy bosses. As a result he is put out in ... ...went wrong and who was responsible.
He contacts other agents who are beyond sanction and starts work. Vaneesa Redgrave has a cameo role in this film - not entirely believable in her part but it does not detract from the storyline.
The special effects in this film are magic - hi tech and brilliant to watch. The various computer elements look great - whether actually possible or not I wouldn't know, but looks great.
The resolution of the mystery ...
