Say Hello To MY Little Friend: Tony Camonte!
Review of Scarface DVD by eve6kicksass

Advantages: One & only original SCARFACE; Hughes, Hawks & Muni create a masterpiece
Disadvantages: Some who love the 83 version have never even seen it!

****************************************************************** TITLE : Scarface (1932 Version) RATING: ***** CAST: Paul Muni, Ann Dvorak, George Raft, Boris Karloff, Karen Morley, Vince Barnett, Osgood Perkins, C. Henry Gordon, Purnell Pratt, Tully Marshall, Inez Palange, Edwin Maxell, Howard Hawks. DIRECTOR: Howard Hawks SCREENWRITERS: Ben Hecht, W. R. Burnett, Seton I. Miller & John Lee Mahin BASED ON NOVEL: "Scarface" by Armitage Trail; ...
...At only 93 minutes, SCARFACE moves along at a machine-gun pace, combining potent violence with a raw attitude; indeed, this was probably the most violent movie of the 1930s though, unlike the films of today, it is done without an ounce of blood. However, in this film they actually used REAL bullets while firing all the tommy guns, which gives the film a sharp edge of realism to it. In addition, unlike the 1983 remake and many other modern day gangster ... Read review

Your Mission Should You Choose To Accept It....
Review of Mission: Impossible DVD by C_W_Monkey

Advantages: great twists
Disadvantages: too complicated (maybe even impossible)

...a huge one for any Mission: Impossible fan. Personally I think it was too far. It ends in the now famous helicopter going through the Euro Tunnel scene. At the time this was made, it was cutting edge special effects. Of course, we all know the TGV doesn't stop in London. But I'm pretty sure a sponsorship deal and misinformation (it was filmed before the tunnel was complete) insured that in this film TGV did stop at London. I remember when it came ...
...for being the first to incorporate the tunnel. ------------------------------ Acting ------------------------------ Jon Voight does a fantastic job as Jim Phelps - just the way I remember him. Tom Cruise also pulls off a good Ethan Hunt. The actors are all believable. This film boosted many of the actors careers. Including Jean Reno and Ving Rhames who both went on to do successful films after appearing in Mission Impossible. ---------------------- ... Read review

The squad couple
Review of Lethal Weapon DVD by christianfilmcritic

Advantages: Eel Gibson, Amazing Action
Disadvantages: None

...hit our screens in the Lethal Weapon series. In fact having watched all four of the films over the past few weeks, they still feel as fresh and entertaining as they were on their original release. What is also very surprising is that although the plotlines have been done to death in so many other films, the film still manages to keep you on the edge of your seat, with one action sequence after another. This is not to say that the plot is not important ...
...What is essentially an action-drama; Lethal Weapon has its fair share of comedy moments, with the majority of these coming from the humorous bickering of its lead characters. The second level to the film is the solving of the actual crime and bringing the criminals to justice. This is the part of the film which is really lacking in substance and feasibility, but surprisingly works well as a vehicle for not only setting up the partnership between ... Read review

A rip-roaring action thriller
Review of The Fugitive (Special Edition) (Wide Screen) by bigmike33

Advantages: The action never lets up
Disadvantages: None

The Fugitive is probably one of the finest action thrillers ever made, and definately Harrison Ford's best movie. Based on the television series of the same name, the best thing about The Fugitive is that it never lets up the pace, moving along at a thunderous and often breathtaking level. With its quick pacing, rock solid storyline and superb acting this is a great cat and mouse film, with Harrison Ford playing the slipperly fugitive and Tommy Lee ...
...a particularly enjoyable performance as the annoyed and stressed out police officer. Harrison Ford plays world renowned vascular surgeon Richard Kimble, who is charged with murder after his wife is found dead at home, despite his pleas that a one-armed burglar had in fact committed the crime. While he is being transported on a prison bus an accident occurs, leading to the bus overturning and Kimble escaping into the nearby woods. It is up to US ... Read review
