The Bourne Begins

Advantages: Good action sequences
Disadvantages: Can get dull in parts

The Bourne Identity of the first in what has become known as 'The Bourne Trilogy' and was released in 2002. Jason Bourne, we learn, is a trained assassin who is suffering from amnesia after failing to assassinate a target. As the film begins he has no idea who he is or what his occupation is and the majority of the film sees him either trying to track down information that will help him discover his identity or avoiding capture or death at the hands ...
...new found friend Marie. The film has some excellent action scenes and Matt Damon plays Jason Bourne pretty convincingly. You can really imagine him as a trained killer. Previous to this film, I'd only ever really liked Matt Damon as a comedy actor (Dogma, The Ocean's series) but this film really put him in a different light. I dare say he is now a fully fledged action star. ...

Braveheart DVD Mel Gibson

Advantages: a very enjoyable film
Disadvantages: film could be even longer

This is without doubt one of the best films I have ever seen,Mel Gibson gives a fantastic performance as William Wallace the legendry Scottish hero who fought the English.Although it didnt do any favors to the Robert The Bruce character with several untrue twists to his character, but never the less a marverlous film.I am a direct descendant of Robert The Bruce and of course am biast to his cause and he did however rid Scotland of their English enermy. This ...

Advantages: Everything - plot, characters, acting, literally everything
Disadvantages: Nothing...if I'm pushed I could possibly say that they are long for single episodes.

...is the first chronological film, Sharpe's Rifles is not the first chronological novel, which would be Sharpe's Tiger when he starts as a private, but the events described in that book are placed much later in the TV show. ...period is quite extraordinary. Both Sharpe's Rifles and Sharpe's Eagle are set in 1809, and with both of these two episodes the book and the episode are very similar, with only slight differences. The knowledge of the period is not however only limited to the battles and events, but a very in depth knowledge of how the army in that period worked, and how the weapons were used, including the difference between rifles and muskets which I had never ...

High Drama In The Highlands

Advantages: Good casting. Excellent performances. Stunning scenery.
Disadvantages: Perhaps a wee bit drawn out at 133 minutes.

...ONLY ~~~~~~~~~ ~ ~ Rob Roy MacGregor is a legendary figure in Scottish history, immortalised forever in the famous novel of the same name by Sir Walter Scott published in 1817. Scott's novel is probably the main reason he's a legendary figure in Scottish history, as in reality he was a simply a clan chief from around Stirling, (the old Scot's capital) who supported the cause of the Stuarts (Jacobites) in the 1715 rising against the Crown, and who ...
...be forgiven for thinking that Rob Roy MacGregor was a major historical figure. Never let it be said that reality should spoil a good Hollywood blockbuster! ~ ~ This movie had the misfortune to be released in 1995, the same year that another epic historical drama about Scotland called "Braveheart" was also released. Of course, Braveheart went on to practically sweep the boards at the Oscars in 1996, winning both best picture and best director. (Mel ...
