Doo You See A Zulu?
Advantages: Captivating, one of the best films ever made. Disadvantages: None whatsoever.
Zulu has to be one of my favourite films of all time.
It was released in 1964 through Paramount Pictures by Diamond Films - a company set up by the well established actor Stanley Baker, who was looking to move more into the directing field.
The film was directed by Cy Endfield, and co-produced by both Baker and Endfield, each with strong links to the story-line. Endfield was born in South Africa, where the events covered by the film took place, ... ...Zulu's is played by the Zulu Chief himself, Chief Buthelezi, and obviously the collaberation brings a real touch of authenticity to the Zulu's in this film and ensures that it is a real depiction of how the Zulu fighting strategies were carried out.
Otto Witt - Jack Hawkins. He plays a cameo performance as the Swedish missionary but I found his role a little annoying and lack lustre up until his departure from the mission. Steaming drunk, he shounts ...

The Dark Knight - A Super-hero movie without a hero
Advantages: Heath Ledger, great special effects, some excellent scenes Disadvantages: Batman
...enough to see yourself become the villain" The release of "The Dark Knight" was greeted with something approximating mass-hysteria by the film-watching public due to the tragic circumstances surrounding the movie. For those who happened to be on another planet at the time, Heath Ledger, who plays arch-villain "The Joker", tragically died of an apparent overdose of prescribed drugs just before release. Ledger automatically gained Kurt Cobain/James ... ...the greatest actor ever to draw breath. Co-stars and fans alike queued up to pay homage. His performance as The Joker was no longer merely acting, it was a "legacy", instantaneously elevating it into the echelons of "best villain ever status". Immediately all the press releases and film trailers focussed on The Joker rather than the supposed star, Batman. Maybe this would have been the case anyway, but the cynical mind may wonder. In short, the Ledger ...

Get Carter (2000) Review
Advantages: Stallone Disadvantages: Little Action
...threatens on numerous occasions in Get Carter to seriously kick some arse with all his tough talking and trademark snarl, but there's never really any follow through. Sure, he throws a few punches and fires a couple of shots (as a man in his business should); however, the film, on the whole, prefers to concentrate on Stallone being a good uncle, as if to say the character is really quite compassionate and sensitive beneath his chiselled surface. ... ...time. This, of course, is disappointing to all those are used to seeing Sly kick some serious arse. As far as movies go, Get Carter (2000) is instantly forgettable; and as far as remakes go, it all seems a bit pointless. I'd advise you to stick with the original. ...

The Italian Jobs Box Set
Advantages: Great box set of a legendary film and a good remake Disadvantages: Could have makde more of original version
I brought the box set as I enjoyed the new version at the cinema and my old version had worn out! Whilst mine was £15 at a well-known store a while ago, sets are now alot cheaper if you search for them. I'd reccommend getting the set as I enjoyed making comparsions between the films. I'm not going to cover the plots as the Italian Job is a legend but suffice to say it involves stealing large amounts of gold using minis as the getaway cars. Noel Cowards ... ...flims has changed alot since the orignial so Charlize Theron as Crokers daughter was a good addition.
The DVD extras on how the new film pays homage to the old is great and shows alot of thought went into the remake. Whilst the newer version is the newer slick hollywood version rather than the british 70's budget film there are somethings that the new version cannot trump. The original mini chase is still the best and how can you replace Benny Hill ...

Mini's in the streets
Advantages: Brilliant film Disadvantages: none
The Italian Job is a drama film directed by Peter Collinson and written by Troy Kennedy Martin. The film was released in 1969. This film is about Charlie Croker (Michael Caine) who has just been released from prison. He wants to do a big job which involves stealing $4 million of gold in Italy. However he needs money to help fund the job, so he asks crime boss, Mr Bridger (Noel Coward) for assistance. Croker has devised an ingenious plan to steal ... ...planning the heist. This leads to a memorable car chase through the streets of Italy.
This is a classic film that has a great soundtrack which really adds to the mood and atmosphere of the story. Noel Coward provides gravitas as the Mr Bridger and Michael Caine is great as the gangs leader who orchestrates the whole heist. The film features Benny Hill in a small role as Professor Simon Peach. The car chase is brilliant and stunning, and has since ...
