Doo You See A Zulu?

Advantages: Captivating, one of the best films ever made.
Disadvantages: None whatsoever.

Zulu has to be one of my favourite films of all time. It was released in 1964 through Paramount Pictures by Diamond Films - a company set up by the well established actor Stanley Baker, who was looking to move more into the directing field. The Bourne Begins

Advantages: Good action sequences
Disadvantages: Can get dull in parts

The Bourne Identity of the first in what has become known as 'The Bourne Trilogy' and was released in 2002. Jason Bourne, we learn, is a trained assassin who is suffering from amnesia after failing to assassinate a target. Review of The Bourne Identity (DVD)

Spider, The Trilogy... Light-hearted fun

Advantages: Kid friendly, easy top watch, likable hero
Disadvantages: 20 minutes of the third film are BAD. Not very scary.

This series is less dark than many of the other comic book movies. The sort of thing you don't even hesitate to let your kids watch. My 8 year old sister loves these movies. The first film shows the making of spiderman, with the Green Goblin as his main enemy. It follows the comic books pretty closely and Kirsten Dunst is a lovely MJ. Maguire is good as spiderman because he's not got the cool factor, which suits the character. The biggest difference ...
...second film has Dr Octopus as the villain, leading to a lot of nice stunts using those mechanical arms to climb buildings and so forth. The third film has a 20 minute period in the middle with 'evil spider man' that is just wrong, appalling and should be deleted. Review of Spider-Man Trilogy (Blu-ray) (Box Set)

Modern classic.

Advantages: Rousing action sequences, excellent acting, beautiful score, fast paced, gorgeous cineamtography.
Disadvantages: Graphic violence may put some off.

Review of Gladiator (DVD)

The movie Top Gun was the first of its kind for military movies

Advantages: Action packed, thrilling, great storyline
Disadvantages: Doesn't follow the exact truth of the real top gun

In my opinion, Top Gun was the first of its kind in relation to the military drama and action. They used real footage of F-14s and F-5s out in the desert and caught the footage from chase planes and positions on the ground. As well as the film footage of the outside of the planes is, the footage from inside the cockpit(s), are, in my opinion, crappy and unrealistic. If the scene was supposed to be at night, they changed the lighting in the film to make it seem as if it was taped at night, but really they just took the film shot during daylight for Top Gun and darkened it.
