More like Cycle of The Rings, it feels as long!

To describe the plot in a nutshell this is the movie that separates the original group who started out with the ring, the meeting of The Ents (the last of a species of intelligent trees), defending Rohan and moving Frodo and the ring further towards Morder. ...I'm honest. Generally again, the pacing in this film is too much. It just lasts far too long. It's a bit annoying that Frodo & Sam go to a place in this film where they don't actually go in the book. If the director thought it was a good idea to adapt a book then why not stick to the story of the book? lord of the rings the first movie of a great book of adventure

Advantages: good storyline for a trilogy
Disadvantages: you can get lost with whats happening when there are fightscenes

the parts i enjoyed most about this film is the great storyline of how the ring passed from person to person and this just goes to represent of how people get greedy. the main character is frodo baggins who ends up having to travel with the ring so they can go to the place to destroy it but they have a lot of opposition. if you enjoy a good fantasy or adventure genre than the film is for you because those are the main themes in the story but it does ...

The extended version of the Fellowship of the Ring is brilliant.

Advantages: Not overly romatic and american
Disadvantages: Does not include enough of the book

In my opinion watching the extended version is well worth the extra money and time it takes. For any Tolkein lover this set of dvd's or the full box set is an amazing present. Unluckily the adventures in the old forest and the house of Tom Bombadil is not in this version. The film is considerably longer than the original fellowship dvd, so if you were dissapointed with what had been left out when you watched it in the cinema's, which the above proviso ...
