The Fellowship of the Ring: Extended Edition
Review of The Lord Of The Rings - The Fellowship Of The Ring (Extended Version) by danfellowes

Advantages: Great cinematics, special effects, acting, location, extras
Disadvantages: none

■The Book■ The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring is the first in the trilogy of films by director Peter Jackson taken from the 1930-40s novels by J.R.R.Tolkien. The books were published between 1937 and 1949. The Fellowship of the Ring was released in 1937. The story loosely follows on from an earlier work by Tolkien, 'The Hobbit'. This is a tale of Bilbo Baggins, a hobbit, going on an adventure across Middle Earth and finding ...
...just the Shire. Well now Bilbo has grown old, gracefully it may be said, and due to his adventure is outcasted a little by his fellow Shire-folk. Well 'The Fellowship of the Ring' is the turn of Frodo Baggins, Bilbo's nephew who lives with him in Bag End. The story of the books is that Bilbo while on his travels around Middle Earth with the wise wizard Gandalf the Grey, he picked up a strange artifact: A ring. A ring he managed to win in a game ... Advantages: Brilliant in every aspect
Disadvantages: Couple of things left out from the book

J R R Tolkien's epic The Lord of the Rings is one of the most famous series of books ever written. In 2001, New Zealand Director Peter Jackson took the helm to direct the film of the first of the triolgy: The Fellowship of the Ring. It was a monumental project, with fantastic results. The Plot There is the One Ring, and the possessor of the Ring has the power to rule everything, destroy everything, and corrupt everything. While it is in existence, ...

A real treasure.
Review of The Lord Of The Rings Trilogy (Box Set) by gbabygirl88

Advantages: Graphics and story line
Disadvantages: wasn't long enough

...enough to keep me on the edge of my seat in theatre and at home. The acters did a fantastic Job portraying the Characters in the books, and the story line followed perfectly. The only downfall is that they are not long enough to follow the story exactly. The music was wonderful and the people who did the movie knew exactly how to pull you in. The graphics were to die for!! it looked so realistic, at times I was wondering if those places really did ... Read review

The Fellowship Of The Ring
Review of The Lord Of The Rings - The Fellowship Of The Ring (Collector's Box Set) (Wide Screen) by x22dom

Advantages: GREAT
Disadvantages: None

...seen all three movies in the trilogy. The ending is really just the beginning of the next film, and it makes me feel like I've only seen the first act of a three act play. So it hardly seems fair to review the play after only seeing the first act. Nevertheless, the first entry in the trilogy comes off very well. Much of it is magical and enchanting, with excellent action sequences mixed in with some solid character introductions. However, I wasn't ...
...were some parts that could have moved along a little faster. And as is always the case, there are things in the book that don't make it to the screen. But enough details DO make it, so as to make the film really reflect the spirit the book. ... Read review

It Will Warm The Cockles Of Your Heart
Review of Hancock DVD by sghawken

Advantages: The best movie of 2008...... So far
Disadvantages: It needed to be longer, if thats a flaw

...now find myself having watched Hancock awarding the movie the highest accolade I can by stating that of the movies so far, Hancock is the best movie of 2008. I avoided everything I possibly could to do with Hancock because to be honest the trailer failed to impress me. To my surprise I laughed, enjoyed the action, and was almost caused to shed a tear watching this very different superhero movie. In the past superhero movies characters are for the ...
..."Super Heroes". Hancock's superhero John Hancock (Will Smith) is not the traditional form of hero, he is an alcoholic, is verbally abusive, and has an appetite for destruction. While he wants to do good, nothing is ever quite thought through enough, while he might stop a group of armed thieves he may very well destroy half the city doing so. And this creates Hancock with a problem, he is not a superhero in the eyes of the public, he is a menace. ... Read review
