One of the best action films of the 80s
Advantages: Excellent plot, Clever moves Disadvantages: None
Die Hard is one of the best action films and definitely one of the top 80s movie. It made Bruce Willis' career and the Die Hard series spawned 4 more movies - culminating to Die Hard 4 release in 2007. --- the BASICS --- Die Hard is an action thriller film released in 1988. It starred Bruce Willis as John McClane - an eventual household fictional name. The film is directed by John McTiernan. The plot is actually based on the novel "Nothing Lasts ... ...THOUGHT --- (!!SPOILERS!!) The Die Hard series and many other action movies suffer from one thing - the main character is invincible. McClane took millions of bullets but is never killed - just mildly wounded (see Last Action Hero - an excellent spoof). Other than this Die Hard is anything but just another action movie. Its excellent plot, edge-of-the-seat action and clever moves leave its viewers guessing what will happen next. You always know McClane ...

Die Hard - I should not have left it so long!
Advantages: Gripping and clever story Disadvantages: Can't think of any really
...only just watched the first Die Hard, but I really did not think it was my type of film....oh how wrong I was.
Thbe complexity behind the story in this film is fantastic. Bruce Willis plays John McClane, an exceedingly credible cocky cop! He goes to meet his estranged wife at her office party and their is a hold up, he manages to hide and avoid being taken to the main area where everyone is being held. The criminal in charge is played by Alan Rickman, ... ...best actors for this era. He is smooth, slimy and his words purr in a way that makes your hair stand up on end!
From McCane's freedom on the many many floors he has at his disposal he manages to contact the police, who send a single polliceman to survey the scene. Via radios the policeman and McClane make friends or at least begin to trust one another and when the police finally descend upon them they have a mutual dislike of the way they are handling ...

DIE HARD 2: DIE HARDER
FILM ONLY REVIEW
This is the second of four Die Hard films.
The main character John McClane, of course, played by Bruce Willis. John McClane is a tough, brave, strong and ready for anything sort of guy - as we saw in the first Die Hard!!
His story:
John McClane was once a New York City police officer. His wife Holly played by Bonnie Bedelia finds a job in California and decided leave to start a life ... ...the L.A.P.D. Like Die Hard; Die Hard 2 begins on Christmas Eve in an airport, though this is in Dulles airport in Washington D.C. as opposed to L.A. International Airport. The Story:
McClane is waiting for his wife to fly in , but his Christmas does not start off so good, when his car is towed away for parking in a tow away zone. When a group of unauthorized individuals walk into a baggage area which is restricted and usually locked off. ...

Daredevil
Advantages: Good stunts, nice visuals Disadvantages: Simplistic plot.
...the air. He is a daredevil simply because he has no fear, and therefore jumps amazing distances technically blindfolded. The film was mildly entertaining. The back-story was well done and Ben Affleck played the leading role reasonably well. I in particular liked the sets. Things like the lack of colour in his living quarters really made sense, since as a blind man he wouldn't see the colours. There were a few decent action scenes too, and the effects ... ...really very nice. It also sets things up for the next movie 'Elektra', which to be honest was pretty awful. It had a nice satisfying if not happy ending, and the whole film felt polished, which was nice. Not bad, the sort of thing to watch when it's on on ITV. ...

One hell of a culture shock
Advantages: Great visuals with stunning scenery, great actors, a great film Disadvantages: Story is a bit far fetched (but then that is Hollywoods way)
...and directed by Edward Zwick, the Last Samurai is a story of the bringing together of two cultures that was released back in January 2004.
****Story line****
There is a new Emperor of Japan, Emperor Meiji (Shichinosuke Nakamura), and some of the traditional Japanese residents are concerned over his appetite of western world culture. The traditionalists (led by the Samurais) rebel against the destruction of the Japanese culture and the Emperor has ... ...The Emperor decides to appoint Captain Nathen Algren (Tom Cruise), an American Civil War veteran, to train his army of peasants in the art of western world warfare and how to use firearms.
Algren gets seriously wounded during a battle that is really none of his concern. Katsumoto (Ken Watanabe) Leader of the Samurai takes Algren back to his Japanese village where he recovers. Whilst Algren is recuperating the Japanese winter sets in and he becomes ...
