The lord of the rings: the two towers
Review of The Lord Of The Rings - The Two Towers DVD by
nicmrkhm
Advantages: acting, story, action packed
Disadvantages: duration of three hours
...of visual effects and acting, the fact that there are some fairly unknown actors playing some major roles helps with the fantasy feeling like a reality. if you've read the books then yyou maybe disappointed by the film as obviously there are bits that had to be missed out in order to cut the running time, if this is a major problem then i'd recommend you look into purchasing the extended edition. however if you havent read the books then this film ... ...film because of the action packed nature of it but girls there are plenty of advantages to the mainly male cast. this is not a film for you if you prefer short and snappy films as the running time is nearing 3 hours i believe. If you like the first film (the fellowship of the ring) then you'll love this one all the more if not for the story but for the battle at helms deep. it is worth seeing just for that!
the story itself continues on from the ...

Don't tell the elf!
Review of The Lord Of The Rings - The Two Towers (Special Extended Edition) by
pmcds
Advantages: Great stuff all round
Disadvantages: Very long. Elijah Wood very slightly over the top
The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers is the second in the Middle-Earth trilogy directed by Peter Jackson. There will be a spoiler in this review for any who have not already seen the film or read the book.
The Plot
The plot of the film follows immediately on from the first film. With the Fellowship split up, the story takes on three parts. Frodo and Sam continue their quest to destroy the One Ring in the fires of Mordor, aided by the untrustworthy ... ...the right path. Merry and Pippin, the other two hobbits from the Fellowship, take a different path by way of capture: as prisoners of the creatures created by the Dark Lord Sauron and his minions. Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli set off to rescue the kidnapped hobbits but find themselves embroiled in a battle for mankind, joining forces with other men and creatures against Sauron's forces, marching on Isengard.

Hobbitses and preeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeecious...
Review of The Lord Of The Rings - The Two Towers (Special Extended Edition)(Collector's Gift Set) by
CaptainDisaster
Advantages: Excellent film, worthwhile extras
Disadvantages: A bit gruesome in places
The Two Towers follows the story started in Fellowship of the Ring, where a party of nine set out from Rivendell to take a ring of power back to the fires where it was forged to destroy it. Its owner is now seeking that ring, and if it gets it, the whole of Middle Earth is doomed. So that party set out, made up of representatives of all the free races of Middle Earth - Hobbits, Men, Elves, and Dwarves, guided by a Wizard. Without going into too much ... ...lost and two captured.
The Two Towers then is initially split into three narratives - the captured Hobbits, the three pursuing their captors, and the two Hobbits still trying to get the ring to Mount Doom. They get the feeling that they are being watched, however - soon they will meet one of the strangest creatures alive on Middle Earth.
(Incidentally, if you haven't seen the films or read the books and are wondering what a Hobbit actually is, ...

Right on Target
Review of Ultimate Force - Series 2 (Wide Screen) by
MI9to5
Advantages: Great characters
Disadvantages: -
...seeing the first series of Ultimate Force I eagerly awaited the release of Series 2 and I have to say that it didn't fail to deliver.
Like the first series, this series is again based around 'red troop' a troop of SAS soldiers. In terms of characters very few changes have been made Alex Leonard who left at the end of the first series is replaced by the cocky and loud-mouthed Louis Hoffman (who is first seen in Series 1 Episode 3) and BOX, whose ... ...Akhurst), who provides a love interest for Red Troop's charismatic Staff Sergeant Henno Garvie (Ross Kemp).
This series is more explosive than the last on many levels with more bullets flying and more people falling especially in the opening episode where Red Troop find themselves in a blue on blue situation on a ship docked in Southampton and have to come to terms with the fact that it isn't only those on the other side that are falling. Other ...

Rambo IV - Film Only
Review of Rambo DVD by
DavidJay
Advantages: Ridiculously exciting, OTT extravaganza
Disadvantages: Morally disgusting
...his earlier Rocky Balboa. However, Rambo IV is still a ridiculously exciting, if politically disgusting, high-octane, uber-violent romp. Easily the equal of many of the fiercest horror films of recent times in terms of sheer gore and depravity - necks are ripped open, children are flung left and right, heads explode, innards spill to the dirt - the picture is considerably harsher than its predecessors. It is, though, just as moronic as the previous ... ...Religious, Cultural and Military Might. Rambo IV does nothing to reverse this trend, with Stallone being very open about the film's Christian values (a shame-faced attempt to ape Mel Gibson's success with similar audiences) and the piece as a whole stands as a justification for any amount of imperialist rampaging. That said - nauseating and barbaric it may be, but, much like the final third of Mark L. Lester's 1985 Commando, it's impossible not to ...
