Die Hard- 10/10
Review of Die Hard DVD by chris15243

Advantages: Anybody can enjoy it.
Disadvantages: None

...going to be appearing in Die Hard i thought, brilliant. Bruce Willis is an amazing actor. The performance he gave was spectacular. He is one f the greatest actors in my opinion, when it comes to action films. The plot was very well thought out. I loved the film and the next 3 films that were produced after, were phenomenal. Also Alan Rickman playing a bad guy was a match made in heaven. His voice was perfect when he was giving Bruce an ultimatum. ... Read review

The Bear
Review of The Bear DVD by sewbizzie

Advantages: Amazing scenery
Disadvantages: Week story and can easily get bored watching

The Bear is one of my husbands favourite films and he has been trying to get it on DVD for a very long time so I decided I would treat him for when he returned home from Afghan. The only trouble with getting it for him is that he wanted me to watch it with him! THE FILM The film is set in the mountains of British Columbia in 1885. The film is based on a bear cub who looses his mother when a big rock falls on her. He is left all alone struggling ...
...the bear wants nothing to do with the cub as the male bears do not rear the cubs. The male bear gets shot by hunters who are out in the forest looking for a kill. The wounded bear goes off and tries to heal his wound. The brave bear cub goes over to him and helps him by licking his wound. The male bear befriends the cub and decides that he will watch out and protect him from the hunters. The hunters are angry that the bear was not killed when they ... Read review

Akira, one of the most important works in anime.
Review of Akira - (Ultimate Collection) by d6116

Advantages: Excellent animation, soundtrack
Disadvantages: With translation you always feel like you're missing something

Akira was the first ever anime film I bought, that is to say I had already seen some without buying, so I wouldn't consider myself inexperienced. It's true that the hype surrounding this film in the anime world is massive, maybe too big for the film to match up to. However from the jarring opening sequence I was hooked, I watched it twice in a day and again the next day, it truely, in terms of films' limited impact on viewers, blew me away. I think ...
...by his feeling of inferiority, when given psychic and physical powers, uses his powers to become a monster; Tetsuo then shows remorse as he realises he can't reverse the effects and forgive his friend. However through all my viewings I have been waiting, and indeed I still am, for something to show me what vital message this film has to deliver to society, as I'm sure there is one there. That's why this film is always on my mind, somewhere it's giving ... Read review

Die Hard - I should not have left it so long!
Review of Die Hard (Special Edition) by Icklerae

Advantages: Gripping and clever story
Disadvantages: Can't think of any really

...only just watched the first Die Hard, but I really did not think it was my type of film....oh how wrong I was. Thbe complexity behind the story in this film is fantastic. Bruce Willis plays John McClane, an exceedingly credible cocky cop! He goes to meet his estranged wife at her office party and their is a hold up, he manages to hide and avoid being taken to the main area where everyone is being held. The criminal in charge is played by Alan Rickman, ...
...best actors for this era. He is smooth, slimy and his words purr in a way that makes your hair stand up on end! From McCane's freedom on the many many floors he has at his disposal he manages to contact the police, who send a single polliceman to survey the scene. Via radios the policeman and McClane make friends or at least begin to trust one another and when the police finally descend upon them they have a mutual dislike of the way they are handling ... You look like Gumby!
Review of Red Heat DVD by jissom

Advantages: Opening scene is cool
Disadvantages: Lack of oneliners, bad jokes

...displays such as picking up red hot coals with his bare hands. He is hunting a Russian drug dealer called Viktor when his brother gets shot.... Big mistake by Viktor... So Viktor takes his drugs, and a band of inept henchmen, to the States to escape the clutches of the Soviet Police. Arnie follows his man over there packing an unfeasibly large gun and a rather unfriendly attitude. He is placed in the hands of James Belushi upon his arrival into ...
...a damn lot better than Red Sonja I can tell you that much. It is a classic example of what can happen if you dont get the right mix between action and comedy. The dvd is not one I would recommend. Aside from the actual film, there is a diabolical making of featurette with Arnie and Belushi both saying how talented each other are and how great the film is. This is definitely one to watch on tv. ... Read review
