The Piranha are hungry for some flesh!
Advantages: Funny cheap horror Disadvantages: Bad storyline, bad acting, bad effects but dont let it put you off!
The film Piranha is a horror film that for me is actually a comedy. The film starts off by two skinny dippers who break into an old abandoned military research facility where there is what they think to be a swimming pool to go skinny dipping in. They both get eaten by something under the water. Once they had went missing a Private Investigator was hired to find them. She goes to the research facility and drains the pool to find out what was lurking ... ...It was told that the piranha has been products of a gene-splicing experiment called 'Operation Razorteeth', designed to produce a mutant strain of piranha fish for deployment in the Vietnam War against the NVA. These piranha bred quickly and could survive not only in fresh water but salt water too. When they were released into the river, the film turns into a race against time to stop the piranha escaping into the seas of the world to destroy humanity. ...

Great Train Robbery - Most charming Connery ever
Advantages: Great plot, breath-taking situations, very entertaining Disadvantages: no extras
...GREAT TRAIN ROBBERY (DVD)---------------------------
The First Great Train Robbery is a story by the late Michael Crichton who wrote it first as a novel and then adapted and directed it for the big screen, loosely based on real history.
-- PLOT
Edgar Pierce (Connery) is a gentleman and a thief, he can move with nonchalance between the high society and the slums of London, perfectly knowing how to deal with people of both. After hearing at a high ... ...ingots being moved on the London and Folkestone passenger train, Edgar Pierce cannot stop thinking about the gold!
In 1855 TNT hadn't been invented yet and all the "jobs" which involved a safe were based on making sets of duplicate keys from wax impressions for the locks. Inevitable is the need of a skilled screwsman. Agar (Sutherland) becomes Pierce's accomplice along with other picturesque character of a Victorian era.
The robbery takes over ...

Greek Mythology II
Advantages: Entertaining Disadvantages: Seen the plot before
I watched the first of the trilogy this week on DVD.
I havn't read the book so I didn't and don't know what to expect next.
The film was certainly entertaining but the plot I've seen before in many guises starting long ago in greek mythology with such films as Jason and the Argonauts, Ulysses etc. More recently it reminded me of Star Wars particularly as Stephen Lee was a baddy in both who had been turned from good to the dark side in both films. ... ...I'm not so I won't.
The early part of the film is a little slow going as most are but the second half is non stop action and the journey through the caves reminded me of many a computer labyrinth game and possibly the best part of this first part.
I wasn't overimpressed with the lead actor but I thought the rest of the actors where very good.
On the whole I'd give it 8 out of 10 for entertainment value, possibly just a little too long.
I certainly ...

Classic superhero film
Advantages: Action and adventure Disadvantages: none
Superman is probably one of the most famous comic superheroes. The character was first created by DC Comics. In 1978 when the character was made into a feature film, by Richard Donner, there was obvious wide spread interest.
Superman tells the story of the baby, Kal-El’s arrival on Earth after being sent there by his father, Jor-El (Marlon Brando), to avoid the destruction of their home planet Krypton. Kal-El’s spacecraft lands in Smallville, Kansas ... ...story to the start the Superman franchise of films. The special effects are brilliant for the time when it was made. The casting is almost perfect and features some great actors. Christopher Reeve manages to capture the awkwardness of Clark Kent and also the hero of the people as Superman. Gene Hackman has the gravitas to play the power hungry businessman, Lex Luther. Margot Kidder is good as Lois Lane and it is good to see a big name, like Marlon ...

Convoy
Advantages: a good entertaining movie.. Disadvantages: can be boring for some
...**SOUNDTRACK**
Convoy by C.W.McCall
Lucille by Kenny Rogers
Keep on the sunny side by Doc Wilson
Cowboys don't get lucky all the time by Gene Watson
Walk right back by Annie Murray
Blanket on the ground by Billie Joe Spears
Southern Nights by Glen Cambell
Don't it make my brown eyes blue by Crystal Gayle
I cheated on a good woman's love by Merle Haggard
**IN CONCLUSION**
Not a bad movie, even better if you are or ever have been a C.B. ... ...calibre and date has to offer. There are no special effects so the movie relies on acting and the ability of the cameramen to follow truckers along a vast desert.
It has the usual action, comedy, a bit of drama and the usual romantic encounter.
The soundtrack merges with the movie quite well and seems to give the viewer a little more entertainment.
As the movie rolls on and the 'convoy' of trucks grows, snaking along the arid track towards its ...
