DEATH WISH, CHARLES BRONSON, MICHAEL WINNER, 1974.
Review of Death Wish DVD by
donovan74
Advantages: CLASSIC 1970'S THRILLER.
Disadvantages: VIOLENCE MAY OFFEND SOME.
...chilling and enthralling. Death Wish was the film in my opinion that made Charles Bronson shine at his best and that would also spark off 4 "Death Wish" sequels 3 of which were directed by Michael Winner, but sadly none living up to the engrossing original. Also watch out for a young Jeff Goldblum (The Fly) on his debut playing one of the key violent thugs.

Film : 93mins
Widescreen : 1.78
Sound : Mono
Subtitles : English, Dutch, Danish, ... ...bad guys to kingdom come. Death Wish is NOT just another brainless shoot-em-up but a classy well made top notch thriller and the fact this film was made back in the 1970's is a plus, as it just gives it more style. I would thoroughly recommend this film although it will not be to everyone's taste it's still one not to be missed. 9/10
At the time I purchased my copy of "Death Wish" on DVD (last year) it was difficult to find, but managed to buy secondhand ...

"To us, Mr Bond, we are the best."
Review of The Man With The Golden Gun (Ultimate Edition) by
arthurpringle
Advantages: A colourful romp
Disadvantages: Lacks a bit of scope
The Man with the Golden Gun was the ninth film in the James Bond franchise and the second outing for actor Roger Moore. It was released in 1974 when the energy crisis was headline news and the United Kingdom still stood a feasible chance of getting a couple of points in the Eurovision Song Contest. The plot of The Man With The Golden Gun involves Francisco Scaramanga, a refined and expensive 'Hitman' with a big reputation. Scaramanga is especially ... ...London a golden bullet with the numbers '007' engraved on it. It's a clear message that he intends to kill James Bond next. Bond had been on the trail of a 'Solex Agitator', a gadget that can harness the power of the sun, but is now ordered to take some leave lest he should be killed by Scaramanga. Bond being Bond though, he decides that he will go and find this Scaramanga character first. Soon, 007 is playing a game of wits with the 'Solex' and ...

Gone in 60 Seconds
Review of Gone In 60 Seconds DVD by
JB53275
Advantages: Better than most car movies
Disadvantages: Anjelina Jolie's dreadlocks aren't very appealing for the normally immaculate actress
Nicolas Cage plays a retired car jacker whose brother has fallen victim to the new gangster in town. It's a movie about brotherly love, camaraderie, and stealing lots of beautiful cars. Nicolas Cage's brother (Gionanni Ribisi) has to boost fifty cars in just one week but can't do it alone and therefore his brother (Cage) and his crew are forced to help him out of a sticky situation. Delroy Lindo plays the cop who is constantly one step behind the ...

Did you leave a cigarette burning?
Review of The Towering Inferno DVD by
christianfilmcritic
Advantages: Best disaster movie of the last century
Disadvantages: Some very cheesy lines
It's the launch party for the newly constructed, 138 storey skyscraper in the centre of San Francisco, supposedly the world's tallest skyscraper. With loads of prominent dignitaries and celebrities invited to the gala celebration, it is going to be a night to remember as they party on the 135th floor. After some wring short circuits in one of the systems, architect Doug Roberts believes that the skyscraper has not been built to his stringent specifications ... ...attempt to bring the development in under budget. As the party gets into full swing, a fire breaks out on the 81st floor, caused by more dodgy wiring, and the fire service are called. The fire quickly spreads and although the firemen do their best to stop it, they are pretty helpless 81 floors above the ground. As more fires start appearing, the party goers find themselves trapped and helpless in the penthouse. Now it's up to the chief of the fire ...

The Man with the Golden Gun
Review of The Man With The Golden Gun DVD by
IanM73
Advantages: Great storyline with one of Rogers best performances
Disadvantages: Can't think of any
Following the success of Roger Moores fisrt james Bond film "Live and let die" he was getting established in the role, not an easy thing after taking over from Sean Connery. The public was quickly warming to Roger as the new Bond.
"The man with the golden gun" was rogers second Bond film, made in 1974 at Pinewood studios and filmed in locations of Hong Kong and of course here in Britain.
The casting for the roles was done pretty quick as Christopher ... ...his character "Scaramanga" was just the right part for him to play.
Also a welcome return was given to Clifton james who plays "JW Pepper" whom the audience loved from his part in "Live and let Die" His character is highly amusing as the Louisiana state policeman.
Also amongst the cast was Britt Ekland as "Mary Goodnight" who was another agent helping out Bond. The small henchman "Nick Nack" was played by "Herve Villechaize" and you cannot now ...
