Its a dirty job but someones got to do it
Advantages: tense, exciting well acted cop thriller Disadvantages: might be too violent for some viewers
Dirty harry[1971] is one of most successful cop films ever and also highly controvesial. When it was released it drew criticism for its violence.Directed briskly by Don siegel and set in San francisco, its a tense thriller which pitches cop "Dirty " Harry callahan against killer "Scorpio".Harry is called "Dirty" because he takes on the tough cases that all other cops stay clear of.He is a widower, has few real friends and works best alone. He is dedicated ... ...direction.The style was maintained for dirty harry but with a rougher harder edge. The film has a cat and mouse chase feel with harry racing against time to capture scorpio.Eastwood shows the edge and relentless pace that harry works at really well. The one liners that eastwood delivers have become part of movie legend. The "do you feel lucky well do ya punk" is a classic. He also shows harry more vulnerabe side how he does what he does to escape the ...

Flight of The Doves
Advantages: Good Acting and Interesting Characters Disadvantages: Released in the 70's, otherwise none
Actors Ron Moody and Jack Wild play their parts very well in this memorable film. Ron Moody is truly funny and at the same time frightening with his many disguises and different characters. Jack Wild plays the compassionate and loving older brother - he loves his younger sister enough to run away to Ireland so she can be truly loved by someone: their grandmother, acted by Dorthy McGuire. They have wonderful adventures on their journey to Ireland ... ...film that will put a smile on your face and delight the children, whatever their ages. It deserves to be in the same league as those other classic British films made for family viewing at that period in British cinema history: "Oliver!", "The Railway Children", "The Amazing Mr Blunden", "Black Beauty". I thoroughly recommend this film to all. ...

The Last American Hero
Advantages: Raw and realistic, great car chases, social commentary Disadvantages: borders on exploitative in places, characters can be accused of being stereotypes
Richard C. Sarafian's 'Vanishing Point' is recognised by many a film lover as one of the all time great road movies, perhaps even the best. Its simplicity equaled only by the huge amounts of mysticism and symbolism that has been tied to the film over the years. Some just and some maybe not. However, there is more to this film than sirens, tire screeching and cars crashing into things: When enigmatic car delivery man Kowalski (Barry Newman) makes ... ...next delivery all through the night and get from Denver to San Francisco in fifteen hours, his friend thinks that he has lost his mind. Speeding off into the night, it's not long before the fast driving Kowalski runs afoul with the law, who promptly give chase. They fail. Kowalski's defiance soon makes its way onto the news of a local radio station hosted by blind and black DJ; Super Soul (Cleavon Little) and as Kowalski continues to outrun the cops, ...

Connery is not forever, but diamonds are!
Advantages: The return of Connery Disadvantages: Too tongue in cheek for me
...next Bond film in 1971, Diamonds Are Forever, Mr. Charisma Sean Connery came back for one more film before passing the mantle over to Roger Moore.
The Plot
With revenge on the mind as much as stopping the international crime lord, James Bond once again faces his nemesis Ernst Stavro Blofeld. Anxious to stop a diamond smuggling ring, Bond is sent to Vegas to pose as a diamond dealer, where he faces the deadly pairing of killers Mr Wint and Mr Kidd, ... ...and Thumper. Whilst there, Bond uncovers Blofeld's plot to create a diamond laser positioned in space, where he can hold the world to ransom. Armed with a host of gadgets from Q and equipped with a whole load of double entendres of his own, Bond faces possibly his toughest mission yet.
The Cast and Performances
Sean Connery looks a lot older as Bond, but it still does not detract from his performance. The only negative I have is that there is less ...

The Original Hard-Nosed Cop
Advantages: A true classic. Disadvantages: Clothes and hairstyles are somewhat dated!
...took the opportunity to include Dirty Harry as one of my selections.
~ ~ Certain characters have now entered cinema folklore and taken on almost iconic stature. Most everyone will have seen at least one "Rambo" movie with Sly Stallone, or one of the Harrison Ford "Raider" series. And then you have the likes of Arnold Schwarzenegger as the Terminator, Bruce Willis in the "Die Hard" series, and Mel Gibson in "Lethal Weapon". It would be fair to say ... ...~ ~ The original Dirty Harry movie that the subsequent series was based on took the movie world by storm back in 1971, and caused a furore in the media worldwide. Back then the star, Clint Eastwood, wasn't the well-known and respected Oscar-winning actor that he is today. In fact, he was best known as a leading actor in Westerns, in particular the "Fistful of Dollars" series, and in the long-playing TV series "Rawhide". (1959 - 1966) So it was a ...
