The Hills are Alive
Review of The Snows Of Kilimanjaro DVD by
JeffreyB
Advantages: Freebie DVD
Disadvantages: A bit dated
My free copy of the The Snows of Killimanjaro came free with a copy of the Times to celebrate the british Film Industries (BFI) 5th London film festival. The film came as a DVD. It features Gregory Peck as the star of the movie and is based around a Safari experience in Africa. This copy lasts approximately 117 minutes with a copyright - dated 2006. It also stars Susan Haywood as the wife of Harry Street (Peck). The film is PG rated by the censors ... ...maybe unsuitable for young children. The DVD contained some additional features including examples of stuff being presented at the 50th BFI.
THE PLOT
Based on a story by Ernest Hemmingway. The plot centres on the memories of a writer (Harry Street) who is taking a Safari in African. Based in a campsite at the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro, he is wounded during a hunting accident and develops gangerene. this causes him to fever and the ensuing ...

Wages Of Fear
Review of Wages Of Fear (Subtitled) by
zeroid
Advantages: Superb Adventure Film
Disadvantages: none
Wages Of Fear 1953
Direction Henri Georges Clouzot
Screenplay Clouzot / Jerome Geronimi Starring Yves Montand
Charles Varnel
Jo Vera Clouzot
Folco Lulli
Peter Van Eyck
Quite simply one of the best adventure movies ever made .This film creates unbearable tension as two truckloads carrying nitro journey along 300 miles of rough latin american terrain in order to put out an oilfield fire. It's a fantastic study of courage and endurance and really ... ...really become involved with the four main characters along the route of there dangerous journey....i
All performances are excellent and made ' Yves Montand' an international star. Particularly outstanding too is ' Charles Varnel ' who incidentally appeared in over 200 films i understand.
I won't give away much else except to say the ending is completely ironic if a little predictable.
Winning top prizes at both Cannes and Berlin this really is ...

The Wages of Fear
Review of Wages Of Fear (Subtitled) by
Wadhwa
Advantages: Great experiece
Disadvantages: none
I first saw this film as a film student in Film and TV Institute of India in 1971. I was thrilled like most of the students. I did not have the oppurtunity to see this film after 1974(after graduating from FTII as Cinematographer). Since there was no video or internet at that time, film could be seen only in theatres. Moreover this film was not available anywhere except Film Archive of India. I lost the hope of seeing and showing the film to others ... ...film on DVD after a gap of 33 years. I was not only thrilled but went nostalgic. My family members were eager to see this which I used to praise for decades. But I was shocked to find that neither my wife nor my son saw the complete film. I am bewildered. Is it because life style has changed or pace of life. I am trying to find the answer. But I firmly assert that no one should
miss this film, bit patience is required in begining of film. I consider ...

Right on Target
Review of Ultimate Force - Series 2 (Wide Screen) by
MI9to5
Advantages: Great characters
Disadvantages: -
...seeing the first series of Ultimate Force I eagerly awaited the release of Series 2 and I have to say that it didn't fail to deliver.
Like the first series, this series is again based around 'red troop' a troop of SAS soldiers. In terms of characters very few changes have been made Alex Leonard who left at the end of the first series is replaced by the cocky and loud-mouthed Louis Hoffman (who is first seen in Series 1 Episode 3) and BOX, whose ... ...Akhurst), who provides a love interest for Red Troop's charismatic Staff Sergeant Henno Garvie (Ross Kemp).
This series is more explosive than the last on many levels with more bullets flying and more people falling especially in the opening episode where Red Troop find themselves in a blue on blue situation on a ship docked in Southampton and have to come to terms with the fact that it isn't only those on the other side that are falling. Other ...

Rambo IV - Film Only
Review of Rambo DVD by
DavidJay
Advantages: Ridiculously exciting, OTT extravaganza
Disadvantages: Morally disgusting
...his earlier Rocky Balboa. However, Rambo IV is still a ridiculously exciting, if politically disgusting, high-octane, uber-violent romp. Easily the equal of many of the fiercest horror films of recent times in terms of sheer gore and depravity - necks are ripped open, children are flung left and right, heads explode, innards spill to the dirt - the picture is considerably harsher than its predecessors. It is, though, just as moronic as the previous ... ...Religious, Cultural and Military Might. Rambo IV does nothing to reverse this trend, with Stallone being very open about the film's Christian values (a shame-faced attempt to ape Mel Gibson's success with similar audiences) and the piece as a whole stands as a justification for any amount of imperialist rampaging. That said - nauseating and barbaric it may be, but, much like the final third of Mark L. Lester's 1985 Commando, it's impossible not to ...
