Bang Bang Bang Bang Bang Bang
Review of The Gauntlet (DVD) by
wampyrii
Advantages: see review
Disadvantages: see review
...Bang! Well thats the plot dealt with.
Want more info? Hmmm...well ok, let me try to think...Well we have a movie directed by and starring Clint Eastwood along with the woman in his life at the time Sandra Locke. Clint plays a washed up Phoenix cop who looks like he has been sleeping in the same clothes for about a month and who has a drink problem. He opens the door of his car and out pours a stream of bottles, cans etc. Of course, this means that ... ...witness across country to the courthouse in which she is to testify. This witness is Sandra Locke, a prostitute(why does clint always have his wives girlfriends etc. cast as hookers, or molested in some way...hmm) who has more intelligence in her handbag than our dumbass hero has in his whole body. Everyone is out to get them but dear old Clint's character can't see this...well not until the first preposterous action scene. Ths movie excells in presposterous ...

House of cheese
Review of Road House (DVD) by
christianfilmcritic
Advantages: Swayze, and great sound track
Disadvantages: The Cheesy Dialogue
...spoil the film. To be honest it is not a bad film but I honestly wouldn't recommend it to anyone purely down to the cheesy dialogue. If you really want a bit of 80's Swayze nostalgia then stick to Dirty Dancing.
Road House is available on Amazon for £5.97. ...

Dirty Harry faces a crazed sniper named Scorpio.
Review of Dirty Harry (DVD) by
filmfreak2005
Advantages: Clint Eastwood at his best.
Disadvantages: None to list.
...is the first of the Dirty Harry series, and in this film, Harry and the San Francisco police department face a lunatic sniper who names himself 'Scorpio' (Andy Robinson) . At the start of the film, Scorpio shoots dead a young woman who is taking a swim in a rooftop swimming pool. Scorpio demands a ransom of $100,000 or he will continue to kill one person per day.
Harry is given a new partner in the form of Chico Gonzalez (Reni Santoni). Harry's ... ...then punches him. Also the Dirty Harry classic line is used twice in this film - 'I know what you're thinking. Did he fire six shots or only five? To tell the truth, in all this excitement I kind of lost track myself. But this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world...and would blow your head clean off. You've got to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel lucky?' Well, do ya, punk?'
A brilliant film with good solid performances from ...

The Original Hard-Nosed Cop
Review of Dirty Harry (DVD) by
the_mad_cabbie
Advantages: A true classic.
Disadvantages: Clothes and hairstyles are somewhat dated!
...took the opportunity to include Dirty Harry as one of my selections.
~ ~ Certain characters have now entered cinema folklore and taken on almost iconic stature. Most everyone will have seen at least one "Rambo" movie with Sly Stallone, or one of the Harrison Ford "Raider" series. And then you have the likes of Arnold Schwarzenegger as the Terminator, Bruce Willis in the "Die Hard" series, and Mel Gibson in "Lethal Weapon". It would be fair to say ... ...~ ~ The original Dirty Harry movie that the subsequent series was based on took the movie world by storm back in 1971, and caused a furore in the media worldwide. Back then the star, Clint Eastwood, wasn't the well-known and respected Oscar-winning actor that he is today. In fact, he was best known as a leading actor in Westerns, in particular the "Fistful of Dollars" series, and in the long-playing TV series "Rawhide". (1959 - 1966) So it was a ...

Oh my God, you're The Thunderbolt
Review of Thunderbolt And Lightfoot (DVD) by
TheNeil
Advantages: Cast, story
Disadvantages: Sad ending?
...you go back to them. Thunderbolt and Lightfoot is one of those films that the BBC likes to use as a late night 'filler' - a little too risky for an earlier timeslot but solid depandable entertainment. Is it best resigned to the late night slot or is the Beeb doing it a great injustice?
Loose cannon Lightfoot literally runs into a preacher on the run (who at the time is being shot at by a rather nasty man). Despite his collar, the preacher turns ... ...preacher is in fact The Thunderbolt who had robbed a high security bank several years earlier and the guys shooting at them are in fact his partners (who think that he's swindled them out of their share of the booty). Despite their experience, the three hardened crims allow themselves to be talked into performing the same heist again all over again, and practice does make perfect...doesn't it?
The simple heist movie has been done time and time again ...
