Bang Bang Bang Bang Bang Bang
Advantages: see review Disadvantages: see review
...Bang! Well thats the plot dealt with.
Want more info? Hmmm...well ok, let me try to think...Well we have a movie directed by and starring Clint Eastwood along with the woman in his life at the time Sandra Locke. Clint plays a washed up Phoenix cop who looks like he has been sleeping in the same clothes for about a month and who has a drink problem. He opens the door of his car and out pours a stream of bottles, cans etc. Of course, this means that ... ...witness across country to the courthouse in which she is to testify. This witness is Sandra Locke, a prostitute(why does clint always have his wives girlfriends etc. cast as hookers, or molested in some way...hmm) who has more intelligence in her handbag than our dumbass hero has in his whole body. Everyone is out to get them but dear old Clint's character can't see this...well not until the first preposterous action scene. Ths movie excells in presposterous ...

Say hello to my little friend
Advantages: A classic gangster movie with brilliant acting Disadvantages: A little laughable at the old fashioned parts in places
...for only one day - Scarface was shown yesterday and, as neither my husband nor myself have ever seen it and everyone else seems to think it is a brilliant film, we decided to see it with our handy Unlimited Cineworld cards. I'd heard that the film was meant to be very violent and considering it's an 18 certificate I thought it must be. However, I didn't really find it very violent at all to be honest. There was a lot of people being shot and quite ... ...violence. There were moments were I thought something really horrible was going to happen, such as near the beginning where a chainsaw was brought out, but we didn't actually see anything apart from a splattering of blood - not that I particularly wanted to see someone's arm being chopped off with a chainsaw, but I felt that there wasn't really much violence at all. There wasn't too much swearing in it either so I can't really see why it was certified ...

Harsh portrayal of drug-filled Harlem
Advantages: Good all round film Disadvantages: Took a couple of watches for me to like it
...directing on the big screen. New Jack City was released in 1991 with an impressive cast and a dark and moody gang and drugs related theme, which became a familiar concept with Van Peebles' directing. The film has achieved cult status in the States, where it is referenced a number of times in TV shows, mainly using the main character in the film, Nino, played by Wesley Snipes. I personally didn't like the film a whole lot when I first watched, but ... ...the Barnes character, running his new drugs operation under cover of a number of businesses. He calls his gang the Cashg Money Brothers (CMB) and is seemingly untouchable. Along come a group of maverick undercover cops who are aiming to bring him down. The group consists of rebel Stone (Van Peebles), the fast talking Scotty Appleton (Ice T), and the white man thinks he's black Nick Peretti (Judd Nelson). They coerce a recovering drug addict Pookie ...

Old-school anime brilliance!
Advantages: Great story, action, cool lead character Disadvantages: Dodgy CGI sequence, no DVD extras
...all time favourite Anime movie. The story features the supremely cool lead character of "Golgo 13" - an Asian hitman deadly to men and irresistible to women - who is hired to assassinate the son of the corrupt wealthy businessman "Leonard Dawson". Once Golgo fulfills his contract, Leonard uses his powerful influence to seek revenge on the hitman bringing in the FBI, CIA and the army, not to mention two sadistic, superhuman twin brothers.
Featuring ... ...a Film-Noir type quality to the movie making it , "A Sophisticated Anime Thriller". At times you forget you are actually watching an animated movie! It's far from the anime we see today, with their over complicated plots, mind boggling imagery and annoying, silly characters.
The film does contain an early ground-breaking CGI sequence, which probably looked quality back in 1983, but by todays very high standards it looks truly awful and completely ...

Advantages: Action Packed Disadvantages: Not For Children
Roadhouse
James Dalton, (played by Patrick Swayze)
Brad Wesley, (played by Ben Gazzara)
Elizabeth Clay, (played by Kelly Lynch)
Wade Garrett, (played by Sam Elliot)
It has been a long time since I have seen this film but remember it well.
Patrick Swayze plays Dalton, and he runs a club.
One night someone asks him if he is interested in working for him doing the same job that he is doing now but for a lot more money, Dalton thinks for a moment ... ...flight to his club called the "Double Duche" but he refuses to fly and drives there on his own.
Having been a bouncer at other clubs he no's what he is letting himself in for and get prepared for the worsed by changing her car to a banger and get a supply of tyres, as he is about the sack some of the staff there.
Before he does anything he props himself up at the end of the bar for a while and just watches and does nothing at all but watch. There ...
