Advantages: Ony cost me £1.00! Disadvantages: Everything else!
...I seem to have found my reading rhythm lately, managing to whiz through a good pile of books in as many weeks.
This is a good thing as my ?to read? pile is getting dangerously high and threatening to squash the husband whenever he goes into the bedroom?? ok, so not a really bad thing!
One of my more recent reads is the book I will now review, this being - ?Heirs of Ravanscar?
The selling point of this particular book, bar from the fact it was being sold for £1.00 at Asda, god bless Asda, was the fact that it was written by one of my favourite authors, this being BarbaraTaylorBradford.
I have read a far few books by BTB with my favourite being Woman of substance. From the blurb on the back of the book I got the feeling that this book was going to be in the same strain of writing.
The book is in three parts, with each part...

Advantages: Not a typical soppy romance, dramatic at times, suspensful. Disadvantages: Some vividly described sex scenes which may put off some buyers.
...This is the final book in the Emma Harte saga written by BarbaraTaylorBradford.
TaylorBradford was born in Leeds and by the time she was twenty years old was an editor and columnist on Fleet Street. A Woman of Substance was her first novel and she has written many others. Her books have sold more than 75 million copies worldwide in over 90 countries and have been translated in 40 languages. As a result some have been made into mini-series and even TV movies.

The cover is attractive in a girly sense (which I suppose matches the book. I would be surprised to see a man reading Taylor...

Advantages: It's chick lit and part of a series. Disadvantages: It's chick lit and it isn't a stand-alone novel.
...Emsie and Emily are talking about Evan who is female rather than male as you might think. They're wondering if Evan is a descendant of Emma, although it is obviously not through Edwina who is Edwin's illegitimate daughter. There is that strange resemblance to Elizabeth though and, to confuse matters even further, a nanny called Elvira.
I'd had a busy day and the library trip had to be restricted to dropping six books on the counter and picking up the first six from the returned books trolley. One of these was "Emma's Secret" by BarbaraTaylorBradford. It's number four in her Emma Harte series, of which "A Woman of Substance" is the first, best and most famous.
On her death bed Evan's grandmother tells her to find Emma Harte as she has the key to her future. Evan goes to London only to discover that Emma has been dead...
