$20-million man, this gag-filled no-brainer stars Carrey as the titular rubber-faced gumshoe who tracks down lost pets for his heartbroken clients. Ace's latest case involves the apparent kidnapping of the Miami Dolphins' team mascot, Snowflake the dolphin. His investigation is a source of constant aggravation for Miami police lieutenant Lois Einhorn (Sean Young), who turns out to be packing more than a pistol under her skirt. Friends fans will appreciate the presence of Courtney Cox, who remains admirably straight-faced as the Dolphins' publicist and Ace's would-be girlfriend, but of course it's Carrey who steals the show with shameless abandon. One viewing may suffice for a lot of people, but Carrey's hyper antics made Ace Ventura: Pet Detective one of the bestselling videos of the 1990s. --Jeff Shannon, Amazon.com

Carrey's hyper antics made Ace Ventura: Pet Detective one of the bestselling videos of the 1990s. This inevitable sequel finds Jim Carrey reprising his role as the world's greatest pet detective. His latest case, the disappearance of a rare African white bat, draws him out of his spiritual retreat at a Tibetan monastery following the tragic outcome of his previous case. That traumatic experience, which makes for a hilarious opening-scene send-up of the Stallone thriller Cliffhanger, prompts Ace to venture to Africa, where he goes native with the tribe that hired him to find their symbolic bat. From that point anything goes, with Carrey pushing the boundaries of good taste (what, you were expecting good taste?) up to and including his now-infamous "birth" scene from the backside of a mechanical rhinoceros. Hey, don't be ashamed if you find yourself laughing. --Jeff Shannon
Advantages: Funny Script, Carrey is perfect as Ace Disadvantages: If you don't like Carrey you'll hate this
...those films was the original Ace Ventura, a movie that introduced me to Jim Carrey at his funniest. I recently caught it again on TV and it reminded me just how funny, or I suppose stupid it actually was. I couldn’t resist sitting down and watching it again though and after some recent childhood reminiscing down the pub it’s hard to believe that this films was originally released all the way back in 1994, it really didn’t seem that long ago.
Jim ... ...going to turn to. So Ace sets about trying to find the Dolphin with the help of Miami Dolphin’s employee Melissa Robinson (Courtney Cox). Along the way he has to put up with a difficult Police chief who hates him, but Ace is determined to succeed, especially when he stumbles across a bigger conspiracy than just the Dolphin.
There is a place in the film market for those sort of films that are simply so stupid it makes them funny and Ace Ventura is ...

Geez What A Nutter Review ofAce Ventura - Pet Detective (Wide Screen)by
wampyrii
Advantages: see review Disadvantages: see review
...new, fresh and genuinely funny, Ace Ventura: Pet Detective was a wild success with movie goers world-wide, despite the movie being panned by many critics. Carey’s antics translated from the little screen on “In Living Color” to the cinema screens drew in massive crowds and marked him as someone to look out for in the future. Well, since then he has gone on to bigger and better(and far worse) things, but Ace Ventura remains the role ... ...name.
The story behind Ace Ventura: Pet Detective is actually pretty lame to say the least. Jim Carey plays Ace Ventura, a private detective who specialises in cases involving animals. In fact he only gets involved in animal cases, caring more for them than for hunam beings - and they love him right back. A modern day doctor doolittle, with more than a few screws loose and a fair number of bats loose in his belfry, Ace is called upon when the team ...

...box office takings).
Carrey is Ace Ventura who is hired for his services as pet detective, to track down the mascot of the Miami Dolphins. The film also uses the talents of Courney Cox as a pre-Friends love line.!
The sequel was lacking and although Carrey's performances have pretty much been repetitions of previous work (until Man On the Moon) this is still one of the comedy classics that everyone should watch. ...
