...'Retired' ex-criminal Gary Dove [Ray Winston] emigrates from London to Spain with his ex-pornstar wife, Deedee [Amanda Redman]. They lead a peaceful life at their luxury villa as they soak up the sun and sangria.
The tranquillity is torn apart when Gary's close friends inform him that Don Logan [Ben Kingsley] is paying a visit.
Logan's boss, Teddy Bass [Ian McShane], is sending Logan to meet Gary to "request" him for a job (in the form of an underwater bank robbery in London). In Logan's language a request is a demand.
As soon as Logan arrives on the scene, the tempo of the film accelerates.
His mouth is quick and tongue is razor sharp (he doesn't speak without stringing a sentence of expletives together): Logan IS tension personified.
Refusing to take no for an answer, Logan becomes a menace to Gary and his wife...

The modfather live Review ofPaul Weller - Live At The Royal Albert Hall DVDby
Paulshistory
Advantages: Paul Weller live DVD Disadvantages: Can't be seen full screen on normal TV
...Weller and his band doing a 95 minute live set that comes solely from Paul's solo career. The full band and track listing can be found at the end of the review. I've always thought that Paul Weller sounds even better live than he does on vinyl/cd, and this DVD captures the vibrant energy that is evident whenever he is on stage.
Not only will you see Paul playing his customary guitars, he also plays keyboards on a number of tracks.
Overall an outstanding DVD - my only criticism is if you don't watch it on a widescreen tv, then your picture is 'letterboxed' so the image only appears on the middle part of your screen, with a black band at the top and bottom.
The band:
Paul Weller on vocals / keyboard / guitars
Steve White on drums
Steve Craddock (from Ocean Colour Scene) on guitars
Chris Holland on keyboard
Edgar Jones on bass
Running Order...

Advantages: Great concert, really well edited, great bonus features Disadvantages: Picture quality not amazing
...For those of you who don't know him or his music, Jack Johnson is a singer/songwriter from Hawaii. He plays in a band with 3 other guys, a drummer, bass player and piano and he himself plays guitar. So far he's released 3 albums, and 3 DVD's in the UK and has just been here on tour. His music is sort of soft folk rock, with catchy melodies and lyrics. At times it can sound quite jazzy, especially with the talented Zach Gill on piano. He appeals to people of all ages, you wouldn't be embarrassed to find your parents listening to him either, he's just that good!
I bought this from Play.com for £12.99, it's also available from Amazon, HMV and many other music/dvd stores.
I've been a Jack Johnson fan for a while now and having bought Thicker Than Water (his first DVD) I thought I would treat myself to this, and what a treat...
