This cheeky little shocker from director Joe D’amato is a semi-sequel to the universally hated anthropophagous beast (aka the grim reaper). George Eastman returns looking a little less beast-like to play the unstoppable killing machine that is the anthropophagous beast. The beast has a remarkable medical condition which means that his wounds heal remarkably fast. The only way to Kill him is to go for the brain.

After disembowelling himself trying to climb over a gate (don't you just hate it when that happens), the beast stumbles into a house literally spilling his guts all over the carpet. From here the beast is taken to hospital, where his wounds heal remarkably quickly due to his condition. Having woken from the anaesthetic he is very pissed off so goes on a rampage butchering anyone that gets in his path. Which means lots of gore for the viewer. The gore is pretty good too, choice scenes include a surgical drill pushed through some poor nurses head and a blokes noggin being sliced in half by a band saw. How ever the gore is separated by dull sequences, which slow down the pace of the movie. Bad acting, script and cinematography don’t help either. However this is a Joe D’amato flick, so maybe I shouldn’t be too harsh.

There are a number of effective scenes. Like at the end where the beast’s eyes are punctured by a compass and he wonders around blind, seeking his prey. This scene is pretty effective, scary if you will, except if he could regenerate any part of his body except the brain, why didn’t he grow new eyes? Oh well its all good fun and is worth a look. Its not a brilliant movie but its by no means the worst. Fans of the first movie will love it.
