Advantages: Disc would make a nice Frisbee Disadvantages: Too many to count.
...I remember summer holidays from school, spending mornings watching films by these two comics as they used to show a lot of their re-runs in those days. (When ah were a lad!) They made a lot of spoof horror films as I recall, such as Abbott and CostellomeetFrankenstein or the Mummy They were pretty funny as well, or so I thought. About five years ago I saw a bit of one of these spoof films and found that Lou Costello still made me laugh a bit even then, so when I saw this film for an extremely cheap price I had to get it.
I have been checking out old films a bit of late I recently watched a Laurel and Hardy film, but that was pants. Would Bud and Lou restore my faith in comedy of the 1950s? Would I be happy to climb the tallest building in the area and shout down to the people, Hey, you, fear not! For this comedy duo can still...

Advantages: Karloff, Johann, Freund, the make up and chilling atmosphere Disadvantages: The new Mummy movies have kind of made people forgot
...that the Mummy is addicted to an elixir made of tanner leaves.

However, it is true that when most people think of the Mummy they think of the 1999 version with Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz, which is updated for the Indiana Jones generation. Writer-director Stephen Sommers has a genuine respect for the Universal horrors of the 1930s, and he said that the 1932 version of THE MUMMY was the only one that really frightened him. I must confess that I liked...

Advantages: Big Budget Special Effects Disadvantages: Desecrates The Memory Of Our Best Film Monsters
...In the 1930s and 1940s, Universal stumbled upon a huge cash cow with its monster series. The studio made a few great films and several good ones, but it wasn't long before they simply grew lazy and began teaming the monsters together in increasingly silly films.
In films like House of Frankenstein and House of Dracula, the Wolf Man and Dracula try to get help from Dr. Frankenstein (or his offspring) and wind up destroying castles or windmills and the like. The whole thing came to an end when Universal began plugging the monsters into films with Abbott and Costello.
Cheesy though they are, these films still have a certain element of unpretentious fun. The people behind them were often trained "B" movie directors who were no doubt having the time of their lives. Most of the cast and crew was reunited picture after picture, and so it must...
