Plot: A three disc collection of classic Abbott & Costello performances. JACK & THE BEANSTALK the legendary comedic duo provide fairy tale fun for kids. The wacky pair pretty much stick to the outline of the original, but add their own signature comic flourishes and slapstick details. AFRICA SCREAMS: Buzz Johnson (Bud Abbott) and Stanley Livingston (Lou Costello) go on an African safari in search of treasure. Buzz is a bookseller who tricks Diana Emerson (Hillary Brooke) into believing that his fellow bookseller Stanley is an expert on Africa. They are thereby abducted by Diana's henchmen who expect the two self proclaimed hunters to lead her to an African tribe. On the way there they run up against giant apes, lion tamers, and a wild river. Eventually Buzz makes his way back to the States and Stanley lucks into some diamonds and purchases the store where they both used to work. By the end, Stanley hires Buzz to operate the lift. Charles Barton directs some great gags and funny comedy routines in this lively film. This story contains the much-loved theme of Lou being terrorised by an evil pushy woman who eventually gets so fed up with his ineptitude that she wants him dead. Look for great comic turns by Martin Wilkins as the dreaded Cannibal Chief and Shemp Howard as Gunner. THE ABBOTT & COSTELLO SHOW - Live in 1954's THE COLGATE COMEDY HOUR, with special guests like Jane Russell, this live TV show sees our heroes on top form. Musical and comedy numbers abound.

Advantages: Classic Oldie Disadvantages: dated Gags and Humour
...Abbott and Costello's Jack and the Bean Stalk.
Saw this film just before Christmas; I remember how much I used to laugh whenever I saw Abbott and Costello on the television when I was younger,
So for £4.99 I thought, what a bargain.
Bar of Chocolate, bag of crisps, and a mug of tea, I was sorted, ready for a good nights viewing of laughter.
Well to be brutally honest, I cant remember laughing once, It was nothing that the guys were doing different or wrong, the routine was just as I remember it to be, but I know longer found them funny at all.
In fact I was quite shocked at how badly Budd seemed to treat Lou, I felt really sorry for the little guy.
The story is basically as we all know it, but in this film, it starts as Jack is baby sitting young Donald, he reads him the story of 'Jack and the Beanstalk' to help settle him down...

Bean 'n Gone Review ofJack And The Beanstalk - The Real Story DVDby
Borg
Advantages: Disc would make a nice Frisbee Disadvantages: Too many to count.
...I remember summer holidays from school, spending mornings watching films by these two comics as they used to show a lot of their re-runs in those days. (When ah were a lad!) They made a lot of spoof horror films as I recall, such as ‘Abbott and Costello meet Frankenstein…’ or the Mummy… They were pretty funny as well, or so I thought. About five years ago I saw a bit of one of these spoof films and found that Lou Costello still made me laugh a bit even then, so when I saw this film for an extremely cheap price I had to get it.
I have been checking out old films a bit of late – I recently watched a Laurel and Hardy film, but that was pants. Would Bud and Lou restore my faith in comedy of the 1950’s? Would I be happy to climb the tallest building in the area and shout down to the people, ‘Hey, you, fear not! For this comedy duo can still...
