Advantages: Classic Oldie Disadvantages: dated Gags and Humour
...Abbott and Costello's Jack and the Bean Stalk.
Saw this film just before Christmas; I remember how much I used to laugh whenever I saw Abbott and Costello on the television when I was younger,
So for £4.99 I thought, what a bargain.
Bar of Chocolate, bag of crisps, and a mug of tea, I was sorted, ready for a good nights viewing of laughter.
Well to be brutally honest, I cant remember laughing once, It was nothing that the guys were doing different or wrong, the routine was just as I remember it to be, but I know longer found them funny at all.
In fact I was quite shocked at how badly Budd seemed to treat Lou, I felt really sorry for the little guy.
The story is basically as we all know it, but in this film, it starts as Jack is baby sitting young Donald, he reads him the story of 'Jack and the Beanstalk' to help settle him down...

Bean 'n Gone Review ofJack And The Beanstalk - The Real Story DVDby
Borg
Advantages: Disc would make a nice Frisbee Disadvantages: Too many to count.
...I remember summer holidays from school, spending mornings watching films by these two comics as they used to show a lot of their re-runs in those days. (When ah were a lad!) I have been checking out old films a bit of late – I recently watched a Laurel and Hardy film, but that was pants. Would Bud and Lou restore my faith in comedy of the 1950’s? Would I be happy to climb the tallest building in the area and shout down to the people, ‘Hey, you, fear not! For this comedy duo can still...

Advantages: Good plot Disadvantages: Poor acting, poor budget
...Hellcats of the Navy was produced in 1957 and was directed by Nathan Juran (First Men In The Moon, Seventh Voyage Of Sinbad)
and was introduced by Chester W. Nimitz Commander in Chief, U.S. Pacific Fleet (CINCPAC), which was in itself a rare thing, as 'Chesty' as he was known was not one for making a television appearance.
He said that it was important to show the public post war that the submarine / naval service was to be thanked for their help during both the Second World War, and he wanted to do it.
The other remarkable thing about this film, was the fact that it was the only film that starred Ronald Reagan and Nancy Davis (David being her stage name, but of course was Reagan)
The story....
The film is based around a true incident that occurs in the Second World War, in the Tsushima Straits a heavily mined area of water, Commander...
