Advantages: Classic Oldie Disadvantages: dated Gags and Humour
...Abbott and Costello's Jack and the Bean Stalk.
Saw this film just before Christmas; I remember how much I used to laugh whenever I saw Abbott and Costello on the television when I was younger,
So for £4.99 I thought, what a bargain.
Bar of Chocolate, bag of crisps, and a mug of tea, I was sorted, ready for a good nights viewing of laughter.
Well to be brutally honest, I cant remember laughing once, It was nothing that the guys were doing different or wrong, the routine was just as I remember it to be, but I know longer found them funny at all.
In fact I was quite shocked at how badly Budd seemed to treat Lou, I felt really sorry for the little guy.
The story is basically as we all know it, but in this film, it starts as Jack is baby sitting young Donald, he reads him the story of 'Jack and the Beanstalk' to help settle him down...

Bean 'n Gone Review ofJack And The Beanstalk - The Real Story DVDby

Advantages: Disc would make a nice Frisbee Disadvantages: Too many to count.

I have been checking out old films a bit of late – I recently watched a Laurel and Hardy film, but that was pants. Would Bud and Lou restore my faith in comedy of the 1950’s? Would I be happy to climb the tallest building in the area and shout down to the people, ‘Hey, you, fear not! For this comedy duo can still...

Advantages: Entertaining Disadvantages: More of the same
...Sid and Jean Abbott are a happily married couple, living with their two teenagers, Sally and Mike, in suburbia. Life is never without its ups and downs though, and the Abbotts certainly get to see their share of the downs. Mike is a student who happily lives off his parents. Sally is a environmental protester, much to her dad's embarrassment. Then the Baines move in next door and are quickly at loggerheads with the Abbotts. Mike disregards this though, falling for the Baines' daughter. Will the warring families ever see eye to eye?
In the seventies, it became popular to make one-off films out of television series; this one was based on the popular series of the same name, starring lovable rogue Sid James as Sid Abbott. However, there are a couple of differences in the cast list. Diana Coupland and Sally Geeson reappear as Jean...
