When he encounters old flame Carol Brown (Betty Grable) performing in a London cabaret, Tim decides to stay in England and join the Royal Air Force. He soon finds that one of his fellow flyers, Wing Commander Morley (John Sutton), is a romantic rival for the attentions of Carol. But as the Nazi threat becomes more pressing, Tim and Morley put aside their differences and pull together to participate in the daring evacuation of the Allied troops from Dunkirk. A YANK IN THE RAF teams action, adventure, and a dangerous love triangle with actual air combat footage and the songs 'Another Dream Won't Do Us Any Harm' and 'Hi-Ya Love' to create jingoistic rapture in a story originally written for the screen by famed producer Daryl Zanuck (using the name Melvile Grossman).

Awful

...This film annoys me terribly. Since when did the yanks do all this on their own? They have simply taken a story of British victory and twisted it to glorify themselves (yet again). The British people are mentioned twice in the entire movie, once because we were referred to as the Brits and another time to say that the Yanks were going to dock in England. The film made me just want to leave but I (or someone else) had paid for the ticket so I thought that I should stay til the end. The yanks have simply made a film to make themselves look good for some unknown reason. The film is absolutely terrible and not at all historically accurate.... Read review

A Short History Lesson
Review of History Of The RAF DVD by SteveMason77

Advantages: Full of Facts
Disadvantages: Mainly Black & White.

...Well, this is a short insight into the History of the people, Aircraft and expolits of the R.A.F. With the outbreak of the Great War in 1914 it was soon realised that Air Power would play an important and desicive part in Conflicts . From the Start of the Service with the Royal Flying Corps in 1914 to the Development of the Royal Air force up to the Modern Aircraft and Systems of Today (Well, up to when the Panavia Tornado was new and the Eurofighter wasn't even conceived) , This DVD will try to take you through it all. After a Brief introduction the DVD will take you through things like the speeds of Technology , The Aircraft, things like Germanys' covert Air Force as after WWI they were banned from developing Combat Aircraft by Treaty, The conception and introduction of Radar ( A British invention) to Air Support for the Troops... Going Down
Review of U-571 DVD by cicymru

Advantages: see article
Disadvantages: see article

...The basis of the film is that the crew have been sent to get a enigma decoding device from a German U boat. One of the heroes Andrew Tyler has been denied becoming a captain therefore when trouble occurs he sees his chance to take over as Captain an d prove himself An action packed film with some excellent film work and scenes. There are a number of big bangs and the special effects make the film which is a bit lacking at times with dialouge. Although the Yanks have made themselves heroes just remember that it was the brits that actually did this but dont let it spoil the film. Worth a viewing anyway go and see it.... Read review
