This film is one of the best i have ever seen when i first seen this me and my brother watched it on sky movies. I remember being so bored and for some reason assuming this film wouldn't be that great. I can honestly say i have never been more wrong, i have seen this film many times since and it still moves me to tears every time. I am not a weepy person, i don't cry easily at films but i think even if you are the toughest person who never cry's at films, you will be emotional once you have have seen this. Its a extremely moving film and very thought provoking too it really does get you thinking about life and sends a overwhelming message in my opinion it says there is no guarantees.

If you watch this and have been having one of those days, you know when you think everything's going wrong and life's terrible. This is a knock back to reality to tell you just how lucky you are to be here and to remind you to appreciate life. It reminds you that everyday we are here on earth is a gift and it also reminds you not to take those close to you for granted because life's short and they might not always be there.

.At first i had no idea what it was going to be like. I just assumed it would be another typical teen movie and was preparing to see basically the same predictable ideas repeated from previous films before. I didn't expect to be impressed by this and i certainly didn't expect to be mesmerized. The actors and actresses for this film couldn't have been chosen any better they all put in exceptional, convincing performances. This film is excellent in every sense. Imagine having it all, having met the love of your life then finding out there going to be taken away from you.

I believe that anyone who see this film, it will make a impression on them and they will remember it. This film was based on a romance novel with the same title written by the author Nicholas Sparks. The novel is set in the 1950s whereas this film is set in the 90s and early 2000s. The inspiration for this film was Nicholas sparks little sister who died of cancer in 2000. He said Mandy Moores character in this film who is Jamie Sullivan was inspired by her. He even stated that in many ways she was her.

MANDY MOORE

Mandy plays the role of Jamie Sullivan I cant put down in words how excellent she plays this role, i just urge anyone who hasn't seen this to do so. She plays a very shy, kind person the sort that wouldn't harm a fly, shes the type of person who would help anyone but she gets bullied by others at school and really given a hard time. She winds up helping out Landon the popular bad boy when he has to learn the script for a play as punishment for a prank he and his other popular friends take part in that goes very badly wrong.

Even though he has been very disrespectful and mean to her along with his other nasty friends, she still ends up helping him and eventually does so in more ways than he expects she ever could. This is the sort of person she plays, she sees the good in people and she wants to do good.. Her father is reverend Sullivan who is played by Peter Coyote. Its quite sad to see such a nice caring person being bullied. You really feel sorry for her character and you feel anger towards the characters who are doing it. As the film progresses and the role gets a lot more serious, she plays it so well she really makes it her own.

SHANE WEST

Shane plays Landon a arrogant bad boy who is in a clique of people as mean as he is, like the rest of them he looks down his nose at Jamie because she is not popular. In his opinion he knows her, hes so sure of it and hes already summed her up basically as being a geek and even when she is helping him with his role in the school play and his softer more sensitive side shows, as soon as hes among his popular friends again he joins in when they tease her.

When he sees he has upset her you can see remorse on his face. In my opinion hes playing the role of a guy who is desperate to fit in and to do so he has to agree with his friends and be mean but deep down he really isn't. The last thing he ever expects is that he will form any sort of relationship with Jamie. They form an unlikely bond and soon he wants to spend more and more time with her, he even starts to care about her. His popular mates don't approve neither does his popular ex girlfriend who soon has it in for Jamie.. Its amazing to see the dramatic change in his persona from such a mean insensitive bad boy to someone who is capable of caring with such intensity that he would move mountains to make her happy and its devastating to see the events that unfold later on in the movie. You really feel so bad for him.

SOUNDTRACK

The soundtrack for this film is extremely good and the music couldn't fit in with the scenes in the film any better than it does. I will mention some of the songs from it now.

ONLY HOPE

In one memorable scene at the school play you will see Mandy Moore sing a song called my only hope. She sings this so well and in the film this song, wow it just is amazing. It is really a big part of it. Jamie and Landon are both on stage and shes singing this to him and its the sort of song that sends shivers down your spine. Its also one of my favorite scenes.

CRY

This is a amazing song also sung by Mandy Moore after listening to the music in this film i had to go download it to my i pod because it really is the sort of music you want to hear again. Its quite a upbeat song and in my opinion the lyrics are rather deep and its about when Jamie sees Landon for who he really is.

SOMEDAY WE' LL KNOW

Mandy Moore and Jonathan Foreman sing this delightful duet. I found this a very likable song and its the sort of song you can repeat and still not get fed up of listening to it.

DARE YOU TO MOVE

Switch foot where the band who did quite a few of the songs for this soundtrack. They where even the original singers of the song Mandy sings called only hope but this song was in my opinion the most suitable in the film. It really fits well with the storyline and is a absolutely amazing song too listen too.

These are just a few of the amazing songs on this wonderful soundtrack it really is great and i think most will agree with me.

MY OPINION

This film is outstanding, i had seen quite a few not so great movies of recent that just seemed like every other one. This is a special film it stands out among others, it took my interest and held it from the start to the finish. I never knew when i was watching it that it was based on a true story, had i of known i probably would of cried even more lol. Shane West and Mandy Moore are excellent in the roles they play and they work great together. I found myself thinking how amazing this was long after having seen it. Its not often films come along that are so true to life and so moving, well maybe it is but i haven't seen them lol. I don't often find i remember films all that well unless they where 80s classics. I find nothing ever matches up to them for me in terms of how great they are but this really does. Every single aspect of it is absolutely brilliant, from the excellent soundtrack that i am sure most people will love to the excellent storyline. This film has impact, its impressive and as i am writing this review i am going to look for the DVD to buy online, so i can have my own copy to watch when i want.
