him?Now you can find out as Mimi and Alexander take a magical journey to Lapland, a beautiful snowy place where reindeers and husky dogs help to pull your sleigh. ...
This Is a DVD what comes off the shelf every year, so from when it first came out in 1985 I've been watching it every year, got to say it's one of my best.
30 years old and still has that bit inside me saying I still believe in Santa - sad I know -
Well here goes - Once upon a time, long long ago, a toymaker was given amazing powers and was chosen to live in the NORTH POLE - wish it was me - anyway on with the story, with the elves to deliver gifts to children all around the world.
SO SANTA CLAUS,THE MOST BELOVED OF LEGENDS WAS BORN.
Santa Claus, his wife Anya, Patch ( the great Dudley Moore) and the other little elves live happily together in NORTH POLE - arrr isn't that nice - until Patch leaves to make it on his own in NEW YORK. There he meets the RUTHLESS and GREEDY toy maker B.Z ( John Lithgow ) who tricks him into helping ...
Advantages: Entertaining for adults and children Disadvantages: Silly...but what do you expect?
forward to when my niece is old enough to appreciate it - then I've got a valid excuse to watch it! I suppose some very young children may be upset by the old Santa dying at the beginning of the film, but this is obviously something for parents to judge.
There are some special features on the DVD along with the film that will no doubt keep children occupied for an extra half hour or so. For those who like making things, someone called Wolfgang helps a group of children make Christmas snacks, such as cookies and cocoa - my only gripe with this is that the ingredients aren't listed in the feature, and it is necessary to click through to ...
Advantages: Sweet, nice and christmassy, funny Disadvantages: Nothing really for me
for starters, its a Disney film and secondly, its about Santa Claus, so I think when you begin to watch this sort of film, you have to be prepared to open your mind a bit and suspend reality for the duration of the movie! What I enjoy most is seeing the beautiful sets they have created for the North Pole - they are so amazing and make you feel Christmassy just watching it - the brains behind these things are just excellent! Martin Short's take on Jack Frost was really great, a complete opposite toSanta and this is why it worked. The wacky outfit, the dodgy hairdo and comic criminal capers which are over-emphasised are somewhat ridiculous but they work in the setting of this movie!
I think that real fans of the first 2 movies are going to like this movie. It isn't as good as either of them, but its rare that third films are going to have ...
