DVD Description
Set in the town of Denton, A TOUCH OF FROST focuses on Detective Inspector Frost and his long-suffering Superintendent Harry Mullen. Based on the novels by R.D. Wingfield, this long-running British crime drama features award-winning actor David Jason as tough detective Jack Frost. Frost is a man of unconventional methods and a gruff manner that often draw acrimony from suspects and fellow policemen alike. But no one can dispute the efficiency of Frost's techniques. Also containing a good bit of humour, the series takes place in a fictitious, dreary town called Denton, and features solid writing and unflashy but thoroughly engaging acting. Contains every episode of series 6 to 12 of the show.
Advantages: British crime drama at its very best, some great acting Disadvantages: The box set is much cheaper now than when I bought it!
...is much more pleasant in the TV series than he is in the books even though that does not necessarily mean he is a loveable character. The episodes are generally 1,5 hours and free standing although many of the characters that are introduced in one episode will pop up in later episodes. In every episode, as in the books, Frost juggles multiple cases. David Jason plays the scruffy Jack Frost fantastically well and I doubt anyone else could play this fairly complex character quite as well. Other actors that appear frequently are Bruce Alexander as Superintendent Mullett, Matt Bardock as D.C. Barnard and Caroline Harker as W.P.C Wallace.
Okay, now that that is cleared up I will move on to the actual DVD.
The first seriesboxset includes 2 DVD cases, the first one containing 2 DVDs the second one just the 1. There are no special features...

Advantages: Excellent stories Disadvantages: I just don't like David Jason in this role
...Detective Inspector Jack Frost is not your ordinary detective. In an environment where the police's every move needs to be transparent, there are a number of rules that they are supposed to follow - unfortunately as far as Jack is concerned, these rules just get in the way of solving crimes, so he ignores them as far as he possibly can. The bane of his Superintendent's life, he nevertheless manages to catch his criminals, and in this fourth series, he needs this knack, as he has five complicated cases to solve.
In the first episode of the series, Paying the Price, the younger sister of a woman has been kidnapped. There seems to be no reason for this; indeed, Frost is initially suspicious of the sister. However, he soon begins to realise that things are a lot more serious than he though. But can he find the kidnap victim before it is too...
