The A-team series had me glued to the screen from an early age. B.A. baracus, "Howling" Mad Murdock, Face man and John "Hannibal" Smith were the main characters who made up the unlawful, ex-military, crime fighting A-team gang who traveled the globe, helping out victims of violence. There was one catch however... they didn't work for free!
Each episode involved a completely fresh case, with a new set of badguys upsetting a completely new neighbourhood in a completely new location. This created an un-repetative feel to the series, and helped captivate more viewers world-wide. During their attempts at catching these ever-changing baddys, "Hannibal" would think up some fantasticly clever plan (which would never work in reality) to catch the criminals. It always involved the making of some contraption - be it an armoured car or physical trap - in which B.A. (the muscle) would construct. Due to the constant change in location, the team would usually need to catch a flight. For B.A. this was a nightmare, and something he tried to avoid. As a comedy element to the series, B.A. would have to be drugged, flown to where he needed to be and then convinced he fell asleep on the boat in their travels. Despite this fear, the A-team were never scared when fighting the bad-guys, and the series was full of some great action-packed hand-to-hand and gun fights. Face, the ladies man was usually the last to join the fight, he instead chose to play the 'spy' and fool bad-guys into either giving him information or letting him pass - this would often have a comedy feel to it as well. Murdock however was both sane and insane, he spent half his time in a mental home and half his time breaking out. Murdock and B.A. hate each others guts in the series, and their relationship is often comical.
Produced in 1986, the production quality is not top-notch. However, it really doesn't matter as all stunts are performed without specail-effects and this makes the series feel in many ways more realistic. Camera-angles and shots are simple but effective and work with the style of the A-team.
Summary: A good 1980s series enjoyed by all ages.
