overkill style from promising Finnish director Renny Harlin (Die Hard 2) covers for the fact that the screenplay (partially by LA Confidential Oscar winner Brian Helgeland) is a hash of thrown-together scenes and ideas with no coherence whatsoever. The pizza-faced child murderer returns from that limbo he inhabits between sequels and kills off all the characters left over from Part Three (the wonderfully named Tuesday Knight briefly takes over Patricia Arquette's role) before going after a new batch of uncharacterised, blatantly only-in-this-film-to-be-killed teens. The special effects highlight is a girl turning into a giant cockroach, though Harlin also includes more imaginative recurring and repeating nightmares. Lisa Wilcox is the new heroine, and Robert Englund finally gets top billing. --Kim Newman

Advantages: The amazing robert englund Disadvantages: Didn't really have to do this one
...reason being that it was a 15 so I was ok to buy it. A 15 I thought it can't be that good then, what a fool I'am, like all other freddy movies it was hilarious and full of witty comments from the burn't faced murderer. I suppose I better explain who freddy is for all you sad I mean unfortunate people that have not seen one of the 7 nightmares.
Freddy kreuger was a notorious child killer that lived in springwood, ohio. After the neighbourhood found ... ...spoil the film because its a great film to watch and well worth the money I payed for it. This is the tope grossing nightmare on elm street of the all and you can see why. Nightmare on elm street has always been my favourite horror movie because of freddys great sence of humor. The fact that he plays with his victims before killing them makes the film a whole lot better. Many people think that nightmare on elm street is full of blood and gore which ...

Freddy loses direction Review ofA Nightmare On Elm Street 4 - The Dream Master DVDby
pinkmatchstick
Advantages: Robert Englund as Freddy Disadvantages: Not the best of the series
...of what is now termed a "franchise" in film parlance.
For those who don't know, Freddy Krueger was a child killer who escaped justice on a technicality. The parents hunted him down and burnt him alive. You can't keep a good man down though, and he returns to kill again in the dreams of the young people of the town. By now Englund had turned the character into something of a cult hero - I remember going to see Nightmare 3 at the cinema and there ... ...its climax.
There are a couple of really nauseating scenes. One involves Freddy eating a pepporoni pizza, where the heads of his victims are shaped as the meatballs. The other is right at the end so I won't describe it as it'll give the ending away. Lots of arms and legs.
SOME OF THOSE FREDDY ONE LINERS: Joey gets drowned in his bed by what he thought was a naked pin-up girl (actually turns out to be Freddy) who quips "how's this for a wet dream"......the ...

Advantages: Great FX, a real crowd pleaser Disadvantages: Has lost the atmosphere of the original
...help of Alice (Lisa Wilcox), a girl who has acquired the ability to pull people into her dreams from Kristen (Tuesday Knight), goes on the hunt for some fresh new souls.
After "Nightmare 3" there wasn’t really a need for anymore sequels, but New Line Cinema thought they could squeeze a few more pennies out of us, $49,000,000 worth of pennies to be exact, and why not? We all love a good horror sequel, and "Nightmare 4" isn’t all that bad. Freddy ... ...now become more of a loveable rouge than a villain, dispatching, his victims, and his wise-cracks to the delight of the viewer.
Although its is without the atmosphere of the first 2 movies or even the 3rd, "Nightmare 4" is still the most visually enthralling of the entire series, and we get to see some pretty impressive special FX. Choice scenes include the cockroach transformation scene, and perhaps the best effect of the movie, Freddy’s death, ...

Advantages: More of Freddy's one-liners and murders Disadvantages: Lost ther horror of the original
...school and trying to make a new life for themselves. Unfortunately Freddy Krueger has other ideas. He comes back to life and picks off Kincaid and Joey with ease. He goes after Kirsten knowing that she has the ability to call people into her dreams, she pulls in Alice. Alice and her friends now become the target for Freddy's attempts to kill every kid not just on Elm Street, but in Springwood! There are some great effects in this one, an the character ...

A bit of a let-down Review ofA Nightmare On Elm Street 4 - The Dream Master DVDby
Kelvan
Advantages: Better than No. 2 Disadvantages: Fairly Average
...that unknown power to pull a new group of children into his foul domain
Verdict:
In the tradition of slasher movie sequels, there are more bodies and the deaths are more elaborate. Elaborate beyond all rational boundaries. What motive could a supernatural murderer like Freddy possibly have for constructing all these complicated dreams and dressing up as characters in it? Still, its all quite funny. . .
The plot, which continues where the third ... ...the kid who drowns in a water bed? Isn't anyone the least bit curious how all these teenagers keep dying? But no, this movie is too lazy to get into such details. It focuses on one character long enough for him to be knocked off, then moves on to the next. I also found it silly that Kristen was played by someone different than in Nightmare 3. When the movie starts, somehow you are suppose to know that its carrying on from the last one, but how are ...
