Advantages: Visually stunning and like a really strange dream Disadvantages: Probably a bit too much singing at times
...Quirky, funny and visually stunning, this is very much a Tim Burton/ Johnny Depp venture through the dark gothic streets of 'ye olde London town'. Shot in Burton's usual sinister fairytale style, this musical film adaptation of the Sweeney Todd story manages to pull off oozing menace and a decent into homicidal madness sometimes in spite of the very frequent musical numbers and sometimes because of them.
The performances are generally excellent, Depp obviously loves his Cockney characters and he is well supported by a very good cast who paint a picture of London's slimey, depraved and deprived underbelly in Victorian England.
Worth a look for all Burton and Depp fans and truly grisly and visceral at times, don't let the constant singing get in the way of this journey into the macabre, though sometimes, you kinda feel it does....

...One of the Best British Films your most likely to see!***** Five Stars.
A razor-sharp acid tongued 1980's British comedy, Withnail and I is a must-see cult comedy film.
It's 1969; the end of what for some was arguably the greatest decade of all time. Just one big Sex, Drugs, Rock 'n' Roll party with one problem - 'I' (Paul McGann) and Withnail (Richard E. Grant) never got an invite! Two unemployed actors share a slowly rotting flat in the middle of London (Camden Town) and don't believe in food - just booze and drug's. Trying to get a "Serious Job" is out of the question so they decide to embark on a chaos-fuelled journey to the North Country cottage of Withnail's uncle Monty (Richard Griffiths). This is where they start to strike a "bond" and the problems really start.......
Music by DAVID DUNDAS and RICK WENTWORTH (a great...
