Paul (Jason Lee) is about to marry Karen (Selma Blair), by all accounts the perfect woman. Yet at his 'bachelor party,' he finds himself smitten by a clumsy Tiki-girl, Becky (Julia...
more...Stiles), and wakes up hung over the next morning only to find her in his bed. Guilt-stricken by the situation, he would like to tell Karen what he did. The only problem is that he doesn't remember what happened. As Paul tries to find out the truth, the discovery that Becky is actually his fiancee's cousin is all the more shocking. And to make matters even worse, Becky's psychotic ex-boyfriend, Ray (Lochlyn Munro), is a crooked cop who is determined to get Paul out of Becky's life by any means necessary. Ultimately, Paul must decide whether to marry Karen and take the logical next step, or to take a cue from Becky and embrace his more spontaneous and creative side. This slightly quirky romantic comedy from director Chris Koch (SNOW DAY) features a healthy dose of slapstick from Lee, who is well-suited for the role. James Brolin appears as Karen's macho father, and Julie Hagerty plays Paul's mildly flaky mother.

Metro-Goldwyn- Mayer presents s David David Laud Film "A Guy Thing ". This comedy romance hit out screens in 2003, and it has been a film that I have passed by many a time while in the local Asda Supermarket, never knowing whether to buy or not to buy.

Well this particular weekend I was in need of a feel good film and it was begging to be bought eagerly placed right next to the checkout @ £5.99.

The Plot
_____

Bachelor parties are full of fun and frolics before a mans big day and is meant to be a momentous occasion that every groom to be enjoys to the highest limits well all but the well a mannered lovely Paul Morse. In an attempt to divert act8ivities away from himself, he lets his best mate Jim pretend to be the groom for the night.

Next morning he wakes to a call from his mother in law to be at which point he finds himself face to face with Becky one of the dancers from the club.

Paul is so distraught and feels so guilty that he could cheat on his fiancée Karen. To make matters worse it transpires that Becky is actually Karen's cousin, so instead of hiding his confession he is forced to see her more and more.

Paul is constantly thinking that Karen will find out so is careful in everything he does in order to keep the secret from escaping. Also with Becky's ex boyfriend Ray a policeman harassing Paul over Becky's and Paul's one night together after gaining some photos as evidence. Ray turns in to the Psycho from you worst nightmares. Paul eventually teams up with Becky to capture Ray using his power as a policeman to harass both himself and Becky.

As Paul and Becky spend more time together their relationship grows.........

Verdict on the Plot
______________

My this story is so like many I have seen before man meets woman decide to get married but man then falls for another woman and classic case of will he or wont he leave his fiancée.

These stories were okay in the past when they were few and far between, but lately this type of film has flooded the movie market, making such stories dull and un-interesting.

The whole Becky being Karen's cousin is so unbelievable. Yes I am sure it has happened somewhere in the world, but it just seems so lame.

As for Ray Becky's Psychotic ex boyfriend give me a gun and I will kill him just for being so damn irritating. Yes okay we all know that the police force is not free from corruption, but can we at least make the character a little more believable.

The lot was just in total dire, okay if you want an easy watching afternoon fine plug it in, but it will probably bore you to tears, but hey it is a good cure for any sleep problems you may have been having of late.

There are a few funny moment, but hey I can get that by looking out my window at home.

Main Characters
______________

Jason Lee = Paul Morse

His performance was average especially with the character he was given to play, he could not get better than that. Very dubious that he was cast as one of the main characters as his strength of appearance did not match that of what had been portrayed.

Julia Stiles - Becky

Julia annoys the hell out of me at the best of times. She seems to always play the same sort of role and frankly she is getting boring. Long ago are the days when we all wanted to see a pretty blonde girl acting and making us all wish to be like her. Her character needed an actor that was more gutsy.

Selma Blair - Karen

Blah Blah Blah, sorry what did she say. Her voice and mannerisms are better than a hypnotic trance. Five minutes of her and you can be asleep for hours. I suppose to her credit Karen could not be played any better as she was the sort of character that was mind numbing and someone you just wish to go up to and shake and say get a life woman.

Lochyln Munro - Ray

Well I have already touched upon this character earlier....... totally un-realistic springs to mind. If I was that actor I would have walked as soon as I had seen the script. The fact that he didn't either means he got a very nice cheque or he takes no pride in his work.

Overall Verdict
___________

Absolute and utter dribble from start to finish, I would personally varnish the fence (which for me is the most boring job in the world) rather than sit through this film.

The storyline is pathetic and so run of the mill. There is nothing that stands out that you can comment on other than how bad it really is.

The Characters need to be gutsy and real, but we are left with limp and dead inside, which is basically what actors were in it too.

This is a film that yet again I would happily post to someone for the price of a postage stamp, that or if you wish to do a swap that's fine. Just let me know in the comments section.
