Vulcan crew also provide a graphic first-hand account of the plane's only wartime sorties - flying Black Buck missions to The Falklands to bomb Port Stanley Airfield. The highlight of the film, however, is the Vulcan's final, thrilling appearance at RAF Cranfield, with a special escort flight from the world famous Red Arrows display team. Air-to-air shots from the Red Arrows' chase plane and spectacular footage from the Vulcan's flight deck record the bomber approaching Cranfield.

"Ooooh I love you too darling"
Kind of story that dominated the golden era of Hollywood. It's nice enough in that manner. You're Grannie would enjoy it (that's who I offloaded my copy too after I watched it)
As for the book/film ... ...romance. The book is also a bit more exciting. The film misses out the interesting parts were the two Ambulance men run away and it makes the Italian doctor out to be the bad guy. I mean he was the best character in the novel. He was so easy going he didn't even care when Frederick stole his girlfriend.Plus he called everyone baby. But in this one we see him conspiring against Henry. Bloody hollywood.

As for the book/film interaction. The book is, as they generally are, better. The book is more anti-war whilst this DVD concentrates more on the romance. The book is also a bit more exciting. One question that bugs me when I read A Farewell to Arms, is why is it called A Farewell to Arms? I mean he's an ambulance driver not a soldier. He never had any arms to be worried about to start with.
You watch this film though and you'll come to the conclusion everyone comes too, when reading Hemmingway. Hemmingway seems to hate women. He always portrays them as subserviant and more than a little dim. Though the classic comedy in this film is the size difference between the man and the woman. She is like teh smallest woman alive and he is a giant. There's a scene were he is walking through a crowd and he's head and shoulders above the rest. There's definite shitzu-great dane problems there.
The quality of the DVD is poor. It's always really dark and the sound is never great. It's made in the 30's what more do you want me to say about the special effects. There's only so much you can do with string and cardboard. The acting is all overdramatic and unrealistic as well.
Don't pay more than a pund. It's not worth it. Even if your Grannie does give you thankyou sweets. They're always those horrible mint ones anyway
