I know what you're thinking and that is that: Why have I watched this film? Well the main reason is because my mom loves chick flick (I don't know why so don't ask), and there's one rule, and that is that we all must watch a DVD together. If one person is in the house but not watching the film, then we can't watch it. The only way you can get out of watching the film is by being outside, but even then you have to be as far away from this house as possible, i.e. Go up town, or to a mate's house. So usually horror films are watched on a Friday night when my dad (luckily) & my brother are out the house.
Anyway as you may already know this film is nowhere near a horror film. It's a chick flick, but I have to say I did like this one. Especially since Hilary Duff is in it, you could say she's one of my favourite Actresses but she's also a good singer.
Anyway here's a bit of information about the people:
Samantha "Sam" Montgomery is played by Hilary Duff. Hilary was first seen in Casper meets Wendy, Hilary played "Wendy the Good Witch". This was the start of her career. She then became famous to everyone in the hit TV Series "Lizzie McGuire" which is still shown on TV. She played the main role: "Lizzie McGuire". She also has a hit
singing career where she has released 3 studio albums and she also has a second "Greatest Hits" album on the way out soon.
Austin Ames is played by Chad Michael Murray. Chad has been in a number of Films. He is most recently seen in One Tree Hill, and he has also won an award for being in One Tree Hill. He can also be seen in Freaky Friday as well as House of Wax.
Fiona (Sam's Step-mom) is played by the famous Jennifer Coolidge. She is most famous for being in all 3 American pie's, she played Stifler's mom: Jeanine Stifler, however she has been seen in lots of other films such as Legally Blonde, Zoo Lander, Date Movie and Epic Movie. She played Heidi/Jaclyn in the film IGOR.
The other Actors and Actresses can be seen in a number of different films but they aren't main characters as such.
The plot:
Sam Montgomery lived a semi-fairytale life with her widowed father when she was 8 years old in a suburb in California. Later, her father opened up a Diner named after him and fell in love with a woman named Fiona which he later married. One day, a falling support beam kills her father in the 1994 Northridge earthquake and leaves her with her plastic-surgery/salmon-obsessed stepmother and her two cruel stepsisters Brianna and Gabriella. Eight years later, Sam is a straight-A student enduring her uncaring stepmother's wrath, who turned her father's cafe into a hot-pink hot spot and forces her to work as a diner girl. In addition to her family, Sam must deal with the popular girls at school, particularly the head cheerleader, Shelby Cummings. Sam confides in her best friend Carter and her cyberspace pen pal, who wants to attend Princeton University with her. What she doesn't know is that her secret admirer turns out to be Austin Ames, the quarterback of the football team and the most popular student at school who is currently dating Shelby.
As they text each other back and forth, Austin invites Sam to the Halloween Dance so they can meet face to face. Austin dumps Shelby a few hours before the dance. At the same time, Fiona forces Sam to work late at the diner that night until midnight. Rhonda, Sam's mentor and friend at the diner, and Carter help Sam get to the dance, masquerading as Cinderella in a mask and Rhonda's wedding dress. She meets Austin in the middle of the dance floor and is at first put off by the fact that her pen pal is Austin Ames himself. He soon wins her over, and they move outside together. As they dance outside in a gazebo, they play '10 Questions' with Sam never revealing her identity. Meanwhile, Carter, disguised as Zorro, saves Shelby from David, one of Austin's friends, from making a move on her.
Right before Austin is about to take off Sam's mask, her cell phone alarm goes off 15 minutes before midnight, warning her to run back to the diner before she's caught. She leaves Austin before he can figure out who she is. Austin and Sam are chosen as the Homecoming Prince and Princess, but apparently Cinderella is playing hard to get. Sam manages to find Carter, and they flee from the dance. On the way out, Sam accidentally drops her cell phone. Austin, who has been following her, picks it up, determined to find out who this Cinderella is.
Then her step-sisters find the e-mails sent to Austin, and they tell Shelby. But what will happen, will Sam ever be with Austin? Will her dad's will be a fake? How can she survive? Will she become humiliated?
This is a brilliant film, Thought it's been like 7 months since I last saw it so I need to watch it again as it was so good! I would say there are no bad points but then again if a boy, who's into action movies, watches this then he might die considering this is a chick flick.
I'll leave it here as I am quite bored reviewing this DVD, which is quite surprising as I usually enjoy reviewing DVDs.
I hope I have helped you in making a choice to get this or not.

Cinderella never had it this bad. A twisted and hilarious update of the classic fairy tale ... more
- high school senior Sam (Hilary Duff) lives at the beck and call of her self-obsessed step-mother Fiona (Jennifer Coolidge) and her sinfully wicked step-sisters...
Advantages: It'll cheer you up! Disadvantages: No chemistry between the two leads.

Review of A Cinderella Story (DVD)
Advantages: Chad Michael Murray's looks Disadvantages: Predictable, boring, Hilary Duff acting like herself yet again, poor comedy, really unoriginal, idea just wasn’t executed well, lacklustre script, bad direction, terrible soundtrack mainly because Duff sings the majority of the songs.
