This film is about a young girl Samantha Montgomery who is brought up by her father, and is best friends with her father, but even though sam thinks she has everything she needs, he thinks she needs one more - A mother!! So sams father marries Fiona, and soon after the fiona and her two daughters move into the family home.
Due to an unexpected earthquake, sams father was killed and sam was left to be brought up by fiona.
Sam now lives in the attic, and has to work day and night in fionas diner to earn her tutition money to go to college in prinston. She is a straight A student in school and is best friends with Carter - the nerd actor of school. She does not get on with any of the popular kids and avoids them at all costs. Her life is working constantly - her only bit of freedom is her cyber space relationship she has with a boy she met in a chatroom who also goes to her highschool, yet they have enever met. They email, chat and text constantly, and then one day he says - Meet me at the school dance - il be waiting in the middle of the dance floor at 11.
The school dance was 2 days away and she wasnt planning on going cause she had to work, fiona was forcing her to work, and sam was obident to her. Carter, on the night of the dance comes to the diner and talks her into going, but at this point - no costume. Rhonda to the rescue - Rhonda works in the diner and is sams best friend at work - she sorts out sam with a beautiful costume -Cinderella Gown and mask.
At the dance she meets her cyber space date, and to her dismay she discovers he was one of the popular kids who shuns her every day,but he wants to prove to her hes not that bad so they walk and talk.Dressed as Price Charming - he does not know who cinderella is - the mask covers her face. they get on great but Sam has to be back at the diner for 12 before fiona gets back - so offf she runs - just like the cinderella story -- but drops her mobile phone, and price charming Austin takes it into his own hands to try and find out who she is using the phone.
But will he find out who his true love really is?? i am not going to spoil the ending of the film - but i cansafelty say i think its a great film, i love romantic comedies, i love this film, i watched it twice this weekend :) Its just like any other cinderella story except more modern day then the rest. However its not an evil step mother, just a very bitchy weirdly dressed one, and yes there is 2 ugly bitchy sisters.
The actors in this film are great i think, hilary duff played sam very well, a shy quiet school girl, who dressed very casual - mainly in blue, as the directors were trying to dress her down. she was a stunning cinderella.
Chad Michael Murray played Ausin ames the cool popular boy who fell for cyber space sam, the good looking footballer, he worked very well for this role.
Jennifer Coolidge played fiona and she was fantastic, she is willing to dress up in the most embarrasing outfits for her roles and say the most stu[pid things, she was really funny.

There was a game to find out who your prince charming was or who was your cinerella, there was hilary duffs new single as well as the directers talk through.
this is a great family film to relax and watch - i hope you really enjoy it if you watch is after reading my review..

Advantages: A very sweet, lighthearted film, for young and old! Disadvantages: Story line was definatly obvious if you knew the 'Cinderella' childrens story.
Advantages: Chad Michael Murray's looks Disadvantages: Predictable, boring, Hilary Duff acting like herself yet again, poor comedy, really unoriginal, idea just wasn’t executed well, lacklustre script, bad direction, terrible soundtrack mainly because Duff sings the majority of the songs.
