A Christmas Carol
Review of A Christmas Carol DVD by  RichyC00000

Advantages: Great DVD Based On The Great Play, Very Festive
Disadvantages: Third Spirit Mght Be A Little Bit Scary For Little Kids

...I like the DVD, I like the structure of it, The way in which the spirits are dressed and act is good, Its very festive and good to watch around Christmas time to get you into that Christmas ' y Spirit ! This DVD really shows the watchers the true meaning about Christmas and that we should all be kind at this time of year, In fact, contemporaries of the time noted that the popularity of the DVD played a critical role in redefining the importance of Christmas and the major sentiments associated with the holiday. Few modern readers realize that A Christmas Carol was written during a time of decline in the old Christmas traditions. "If Christmas, with its ancient and hospitable customs, its social and charitable observances, were in danger of decay, this is the book that would give them a new lease. The DVD Shows exactly what is portrayed... Read review

A Muppet Christmas carol
Review of The Muppet Christmas Carol DVD by  jayandfoo

Advantages: Typical Muppet comedy, great for the kids
Disadvantages: Too few many songs!

...This is a great family movie based on the Dicken classic 'A Christmas Carol'. With Michael Caine and the Muppets all in one film, you can't go wrong! I have this on DVD and I watch it religiously every year - I don;t have any children yet, but hope that they will enjoy this as much as I do! I don;t suppose it is worth me explaining the age old story of a Christmas Carol but whereas the original had a slightly foreboding feel to it, this version takes the edge off and makes it fun - children can learn the historic story of A Christmas Carol and enjoy it at the same time! There are quite a few songs in this film - some of them great, some of themnot so great. I wouldn't let it deter you though - kids love all the singing and dancing. The Muppets have got this story off to a tee - I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!... Read review

The best Christmas Carol EVER!!
Review of The Muppet Christmas Carol DVD by  Damia

Advantages: Pure magic
Disadvantages: Michael Caine singing.

...This movie is just your typical musical Christmas Carol shown from the point of view of Charles Dickens, played by The Great Gonzo. We follow Gonzo and Rizzo the Rat as they watch Scrooge's (Michael Caine) haunting and eventual redemption. Kermit makes a believable (yes I said the frog was believable!) Bob Crotchet and little Robin the Frog brings a tear to my eye every time I see him as Tiny Tim. Fans of the Muppet Show will recognise most of the regular characters from the TV, such as Statler and Waldorf as Marley and Marley (Scrooge's deceased partners). This movie follows the standard Christmas Carol storyline with the addition of some very memorable songs and dance routines along the way. All performed with the usual Muppets flair for entertainment. I do have to admit to have a dislike for Micheal Caine's singing... Read review
